The Last Time by welshdevondragon

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary:
And just as that celestial body worked its way across the sky, somehow she and Godric had moved closer together, without either really knowing how or why, just as neither were really sure who kissed who first.

Originally written for the HP Couples Mix'n'Match Activity at the SBBC with the pairing Lancelot/Guinevere.

The Question by Alice Mac

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary:

A voice said, Look me in the stars,

And tell me truly, men of earth,

If all the soul-and-body scars,

Were not too much to pay for birth - Robert Frost

Have you ever wondered if it's all worth it? The pain; the suffering; the torment; the misery; the loss? I do - everyday. Not my own - that of my son. My little boy. For me, that makes the question that much harder.

The Good Daughter by lucca4

Rated: 6th-7th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary:

My mother always called me the good daughter (and I was good, perhaps too much so).

I was perfect (except I wasn’t, really).

I was flawless in every way but one.

The story of Elladora Black, who is more like her sister than everyone thinks.

Based off of the drabble I wrote for the SBBC Battle of the Genres challenge (it won first place). Thank you to the elves for such a lovely challenge!

Nominated for a 2012 Quicksilver Quill Award - Best Same Sex Pairing.

The Lions of Gryffindor by Equinox Chick

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: It is June 1976 and The Marauders are at the top of their game. From the outside they look to have everything. But appearances, as the saying goes, can be deceptive.

James is discovering that not everything in life is his for the taking. Sirius knows he will have to defy his formidable family. Remus lives in constant fear of his life beyond Hogwarts. As for Peter... Well, Peter is struggling to live up to his friends.

The ties of friendship are strong, but war is raging and with a dark power rising those ties will inevitably fray.

Added to the mix is an adversary called Severus Snape, some lost House Points, a prank or two and a whole lot of Lily.

This is a Marauder tale.

This is a story of what made them special.

This is a story of why it started to go wrong for The Lions of Gryffindor.

OH MY GOOD GODRIC! Lions of Gryffindor won the 2009 QSQ for Best Marauders' Era Story. Amazed and incredibly grateful to those who nominated, judged and have beta'd this fic. THANK YOU.

Some stories go up, and some stories are gone.
Stories of her own? Why, she has plenty!
Fewer than one-hundred, but far more than twenty.

Trinket by Envy_I_May_Be

Rated: 1st-2nd Years •
Summary: Fleur Delacour is but a trinket; but can't she be something more?

My entry for the Sharp Challenge at Poetry Anyone over in the forums

Tempus Vernum by Acacia Carter

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: Neville is a herbologist, not an undercover Auror, and certainly not a pharmacological and criminal mastermind. But somehow he's been swept up in a plot much bigger than he is and he must be both - and he only has until springtime to make good on his promises, one way or another.

This is Acacia Carter of Hufflepuff, writing for the Great Hall School of Mischief challenge.

--- I'm not JKR. Everything in this universe belongs to her.

This story comes fourth in my Long Way Down continuity.

A gold medal and a year's supply of Rice-a-Roni to my lovely beta, Soraya/xxbabewithbrainsxx.

To the Hollow by IceMice90

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: We know that Lily and James came from two very different households - one muggle and one magic - and that despite differences and adversity they fell in love. How this came to happen, however, is somewhat of a mystery in the Potter world. This fic attempts to figure it out. Along the way the Marauders attempt to figure out a few mysteries of their own, beginning with a string of deaths connected to Saint Mungo's Hospital. And with a war looming on the horizon and a Dark Rising taking place inside the very walls of Hogwarts, it couldn't be a more complicated time for any two people to find happiness.

Their Affliction by Alice Mac

Rated: 3rd-5th Years •
Summary: Love - that's what Albus thinks sets us apart. The ability to love and the power that it gives you.

I disagree: I think it's hate. Hate is pure, fierce and unyielding. It courses through you like fire and invests you with its strength. Hate guards you from other people - it protects you. If all you feel is hate, you have nothing to lose. You are untouchable.

Love drains you. It forces you to care about others and their welfare and if they are harmed...well, then it brings grief, anguish and pain that rivals any curse. Love reels you in with its sweetness, comfort and passion and then destroys you with its absence. It is crueller than any curse. It is the Gryffindor affliction.

Today Will Be Better, I Swear! by hestiajones

Rated: 1st-2nd Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: 'I'm going to miss you, Mr Ollivander,' said Luna, approaching the old man.

'And I you, my dear,' said Ollivander, patting her on the shoulder. 'You were an inexpressible comfort to me in that terrible place.'*

This is my attempt to write the story behind this exchange. Originally written for the Random Song Title Challenge at Poetry Anyone (?). The title belongs to Stars, but the poem has nothing else to do with the song.

The Last Enemy That Shall Be Defeated Is Death by simply_enamored

Rated: 3rd-5th Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: What if, on that fateful October night, it was not Lily's sacrifice that saved Harry, but James' sacrifice that saved them both? What if Lily is left to pick up the broken pieces of her life after its been shattered into a million pieces? Who would be there to rescue her? Who would get her through the night? This is a story of loss, of pain, of hopelessness, and ultimately, of healing.

After much deliberation and input from all you guys who have read thus far, I have officially decided to continue this story. It was initially supposed to be a one-shot, but I've decided I already have too much of my heart invested in it to quit now. :) Second chapter in progress. Thanks, all! Advice and reviews are still very welcome!

The Flowering by hestiajones

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: On his way out, when she makes the mistake of glancing up, he looks at her directly and grins. She immediately returns to her parchment. Stupid, stupid Cissy.

Teenage Kicks by Alice Mac

Rated: 6th-7th Years •
Summary: Aged sixteen, their parents were being relentlessly pursued by Voldemort and attempting to deliver the Wizarding World from an evil tyrant. They fought against far older and more experienced wizards to bring about their victory and create a safer world for their children; to give them the normal childhoods they were deprived of.

Aged sixteen, their children are fighting, but against themselves. They battle against their own self-destructive nature and their foreign, inexplicable feelings. They wrestle with the pressures of friendships, family, relationships and work. They fight to keep secrets buried and to keep their friendships once the secrets are revealed.

Whoever said 'normal' was easy?

There's A Light That Never Goes Out by Alice Mac

Rated: 1st-2nd Years • Past Featured Story
Summary: To die by your side, well the pleasure; the privilege is mine - The Smiths

War is not a place for children. But then, is it a place for anyone?

Colin Creevey may be a child and not the most threatening weapon the Light has to offer. But he has weapons of his own; bravery; heart; loyalty; spirit, enthusiasm; love - he has them all in abundance and doesn't know if they're enough but it doesn't matter.

Because he needs this - to be a part of something. To help take back what was taken from them. And if he doesn't make it, he leaves them without regret. Because he was right where he needed to be; next to the people he needed to be with.
