Update in Submissions Policy

by Roxy Black @ 03/31/08 18:14
Hello all,
Thank you for all of your kind words and support over the past few weeks. We’re very glad to say that the update has gone exceedingly well and we’re well on our way to ironing out our problems and glitches and getting the site running smoothly again. However a further problem needs to be addressed.
After much deliberation, the moderators of MNFF have decided that we will need to charge our authors for each mistake they make in their fictions to make the site financially viable. Our site is always expanding and unfortunately cyber-space is money. We have talked long and hard about the best way to go about this and have devised a little price list which we believe to be both fair and reasonable.
Obviously, MNFF is a site which values the promotion of good writing, and so we decided that it would be errors in fictions that we would charge, rather than the fictions themselves. This makes our lives as moderators easier and I hope you’ll agree that the prices we’ve come up with are equivalent to each error.
Please see below for our list of prices:

$1 for each spelling or punctuation mistake
$2 per canon error
$3 for every multiple category submission
$5 for each tiresome cliché
$10 for every incorrect title or poor summary
$20 for characterisation problems
$50 flat rate for dialogue errors

We will flag up the cost of each mistake in the rejection letters you receive with information on how and where you can pay.
Thank you,
~ The MNFF Moderators.

Happy April Fool's Day to you too!

Schmerg_The_Impaler written on 03/31/08 18:25

Hahahahaha, that's great...

songbook99 written on 03/31/08 18:26

I hope you're both still laughing when you get your bill.

Happy Submitting!

Roxy Black written on 03/31/08 18:29

As songbook99 says, this is no laughing matter. This new submissions policy is taking effect immediately and we are very serious about it. We need to run our site somehow and this was the only option available to us.

Schmerg_The_Impaler written on 03/31/08 18:34

Hey, why is the top of the page an ad for Owl-O's... it should be Cruci-os!

amzing written on 03/31/08 18:35

alrighty then ...im going to be bankrupt soon...

Roxy Black written on 03/31/08 18:37

Cruci-o's are a fiction cereal created by Hufflepuff House last year. Owl-O's are our new cereal brand to boost our profits from our new policy. We're just trying to stay afloat here. I hope you can understand that.

Schmerg_The_Impaler written on 03/31/08 18:38

But if you were creating a cereal brand... why not just go with the brilliant one Hufflepuff had already invented? I mean, Owl-O's were used in the fifth Harry Potter movie. You don't want to be sued by WB... that would not make any money! From a purely economical standpoint...

Haha, good one mods. A good laugh.(: Hopefully you all have a good April Fool's day. And the cereal brand advertisement is brilliant as well.

BertieBotsBeans741 written on 03/31/08 18:43

XD I'll be sure to keep this in mind. *snort*

Roxy Black written on 03/31/08 18:46

I don't think any of you are taking this very seriously. I admit, it was very bad timing - though I had actually forgotten it was April first tomorrow - perhaps we should've waited a few days but we created our new payment system today so it seemed right to alert you to the new policy as soon as it was set up. I am very sorry if you have been misled into thinking this is a joke but I assure you, this is happening.

Marauder by Midnight written on 03/31/08 18:49

Wow real bad timing.

And for those who are bashing Mr Owl-Os, send your complaints to MN for forcing us to set up ads.

And Owl-Os are quite nasty. Bleh.

Fine. But I need you to explain to the authorities then...... for some reason, they think that a computer out the window is a crime...

HagridsTheMan written on 03/31/08 19:06

Wow...haha. You guys just have no compassion...first the MuggleCast change and now this...and wht a coincidence the tomorrow's April 1st... ;)

FYI: All the post are running together, it's hard to read.

I bought 6 boxes, when should I expect to get them? Also, when it sayes 'limited time' how long is limited because when you stop selling them I am going to put my boxes on ebay so I can pay for my stories.

Guys, I don't really think that this is for April Fools. I understand that it takes a lot of money to run this site, so we'd better not be greedy, and pitch in. I know that I'm not complaining. Question, will we receive a list of popular cliche's to help us, or is it up to our own judgement?
