Winter's Tales Result and New Challenge

by Magical Maeve @ 01/04/07 8:25
The entries into the Winter's Tales challenge were fantastic and varied. It made life incredibly tough judging them, but we do have an overall winner: Oh Little Town of Godric's Hollow by wicked angel. The following were also individual challenge winners:

Christmas by Numbers - FeatherTrader; Conversation With An Angel - Kask; Lord Voldermort... and Bob? - Schmerg_the_Impaler; Christmas Eve With the Snapes - Hermione_Rocks; A Gift of Faith by Gmariam.

All the entries were wonderful and you should all be very proud of yourselves. We now have a new challenge up that will run for the next two months. The New Year Challenge has a variety of prompts, from creating Deathly Hallows to having characters meet gods and godesses. You can find them in the Great Hall over at the Beta Forums. To see them you need to create an account, if you don't already have one, and then PM Songbook99 to be Sorted. So what are you waiting for - go check them out!

Edit: *giggles* You have no idea how many times I wrote or typed all the winners names out yesterday. I put wicked over on the Beta Boards, I put wicked in my notes... the one place I got it wrong was in the most visible. *slaps self*

Congratulations to the winners! I'll add those to my reading list.

Congratulations to everyone who won, and to everyone who entered. (What? You all wrote a story for it - you should be congratulated.)

I have a question: I need to know how to get sorted. When you PM songbook99, do you go to her author page and contact her, or should you do it some way else?

Thank you, and congrats again.

Euphrates, on Songbook99's author page there should be a link (on the right of the page) that says "send a private message". Click on that to pm her. :)

Congrats to all the winners, especially Gmariam, one of my favorite authors. I may sound really retarted, but which forum on the sidebar? The one that says "Forum" or the one that says "PI Beta Readers"? Sorry for asking a seemingly obvious question! Congratulations again to all!

Umm...congrats to everyone, of course.

Yes, I'm back - I still can't figure out how to PM songbook99. I'm getting irritated with myself for being unable to find it...

I went to songbook99's author page, but I couldn't find the link on the right of the page saying "send a private message". Can anyone help? (Again. Sorry.)

Thanks, and congrats.

Euphrates -- are you going to songbook99's page on the forums? If not, that's where you need to be, not her author page over here. Then under 'contact info', there should be a place where you can select 'PM songbook99'. Hope that helps! :)

Okay this has nothing to do with anything but every time I log in it will only let me be on for like 5 min, then It will log me off! It is really annoying, how can I stop this?

Euphrates written on 01/13/07 18:23

padfootnflawks - I have the same exact problem! (I apparently have many other problems, according to my family, and by the number of times I have posted on here. :-P) Every time I start to type a review, I hit "submit", and I have to log in again, and I lost my review. Can anyone help?

Okay. Congrats to all the entrants, your stories are wonderful even if I haven't read them yet. (Yeah, I know, I'm weird.)

Okay. *deep breath* Euphrates and padfootnflawks, I don't think there is anything you can do about the logging off thing, but I noticed it happed to me more often when I was using dial-up! (?) But this happens to me anyway, and there is something (unpermanent, if that's a word) that you can do about it, which totally contradicts what I last said...anyway, save your reviews in a Word document before submitting. Then you can copy and paste, or just drag, the review here, press submit, and you won't have to log in again (and even if you do, your review will be saved! Brilliant, huh? :-])

Lo0ny_for_Harry, It's the "forum" button to click on.

Hi there!
I have the logging out problem as well at times, and have found that if I submit a review and end up at the login page instead, all I have to do is hit refresh and my review is posted. I don't hit the back button, but refresh; sometimes hitting the back button double posts a review instead. If I am writing a longer review, I have also pulled up a text program, just in case. Just a strange quirk, I imagine. Loony for Harry, thanks for the kind words! Clicking on the forum sidebar will take you to the lovely Beta forums, which are a great resource and great fun! ~Gina :)

Yep... the log out thing is one of the site quirks. It doesn't actually log you out and you just need to hit refresh. I get it a lot when I click on my account and have discovered that hitting refresh brings up the correct page.

oh good...a solution...that's what happens when I try to be smart...there's always someone who actually knows the answer. :-)

Except it doesn't work for me...darn.

Thanks JewellPotterFan, for answering my really dumb question! :D

Thanks to Gmariam, too! The compliment I gave you is most sincerely meant-- you're awesome!
