Mod Hiring

Well, it's that time again: MNFF is looking for new moderators.

We're looking for three new moderators and will be accepting applications for the next two weeks.

Now I'm sure you're all excited about applying, but first off I'd like to warn you that this is a very time-consuming position, one that is not for everyone. However, if you feel that you can handle the task, we await your applications.

Please fill out the following form when applying:

Stories on MNFF:
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Qualifications (Beta work, PI accreditation, RL qualifications):
Possible Problems (Anything you see that may hinder your ability to mod. Please be honest):
Why you want to mod:

In addition, you'll also be required to include three recommendations from other site members. Remember that the best recommendations are ones that are objective and highlight both strengths and weaknesses. Many members are willing to give constructive recommendations, including some moderators. Please though, respect the availability of mods and members when asking for recommendations.

Applications should be sent to Anasuya@fanfiction.mugglenet.com NOT the staff email. Also, all recommendations should be sent directly to me, not through the applicant. Please be sure that the recommendations are clearly marked, with the subject line reading 'Mod Recommendation for (username).'

Applications will be open until October 3rd.

ilovetheweasleys_7, there is no age restriction. We have mods ranging from 14 to 30-something. Maturity and skill are much more valuable than age, which is really just a number. (Note that you do have to be 13 to be a member of this site, so it goes without saying you must be at least 13 to apply.)

Hmmm, how many hours are we talking per day? I mean i think it would be kewl to mod here, but then again, i need to know how mcuh time it requires.

Being a moderator can be very time consuming. There is no assigned number of hours, just whatever is takes to get the job done. In addition to the submissions queue, the majority of us also have assigned duties on the forums.

As Phoenix5225 said above, we take maturity and skill very seriously. Using proper spelling, grammar, and capitalization in your questions here can reflect on how your application is viewed.

Being a mod is not about being cool or being popular or having some sort of power. It's a job we've taken on in addition to real life responsibilities and should be treated no less seriously.

Yea, I do realize that. I am a viewbie on another site that I visit, so that is why I was asking, so I can divide my time.

I know what you mean about being kewl, and or popular. I don't feel that I way, it is alot of work and I take it rather seriously. Coming up with Ideas and keeping a forum going is alot of work. I like doing the work, and so I asked. I didnt mean to sound as if I just want to mod for power, no i just want to do it, because I like moderating.

*giggles* So have I, Ginny! I was like "Yes! FINALLY!" and yet suprisingly I didn't have my application in that day! lol :p

I thinks its great that MNFF is taking new mods but will this distrupt the qeue. I mean will the stories submitted take longer to be excepted/rejected?=Sammy

The point of new mods is to expedite the queue. The more mods there are, the more stories can get validated.

However much time it takes up, the mods have a requirement to mod a certain amount of fics by a certain time, and that quota will still be fulfilled even if we're dealing with mod hirings. So no, shouldn't take too much longer than normal if at all. Thanks for your patience.

I would love to apply to be a mod but i don't have the time and i don't really know my way around MNFF yet, so it might not be a good idea ;) Good luck to anyone who does apply!
