Queue Troubles

by Anasuya @ 01/04/08 18:34
As some of you may have noticed, there are some problems with certain categories and subcategories when you try to submit stories. Unfortunately, the hacker attack has had an impact here at MNFF too, and we are unable to access certain controls needed to fix the problems. We don't know how long they will last but we'll keep you updated.

We're very sorry for the troubles this has caused and thank you all for your continued support.

EDIT: Unfortunately, due to the hacker situation, we're unable to access any of our staff emails. This includes individual mod emails and also the site staff email. If you've emailed a mod recently and haven't got a reply, this is why. If you're in desperate need of mod attention, please try PMing us over the forums.

whoops...sorry about that...hit the refresh button, it did that stupid "postdata" thing, and it ended up sticking my comment up there a second time...oh well. Again, I am currently dabbling in the depths of PI and hopefully the first beta that I contacted with a preliminary email will come to my aid. I am sure that by the time we are all said and done with the first chapter of my story, the problem will be fixed. Cheers, and good luck!!

P.S. Now I know why they call you Marauder by Midnight!!

saneasluna- I says I. :]

What kind of server are they using? Sounds like an internal thing like around the office, as opposed to the server we connect to. I don't think it's Apache, that's HTML, maybe Novell? If you're hacked, either hire the hackers, or use less vulnerable software. I heard good things about any BSD. And these hackers are not stupid, you're just jealous. (Troll?)

Good luck with the fixing guys! Jeez, you people never get a break. >_< I'll wait here with my fingers crossed until the queue opens. :p

saneasluna- COUNT ME IN!!!!!! Raffles-I totally agree avec vous! Put those hackers in Azkaban!!! Or we could set Peeves, Fred and George on them (bring Fred back from the dead, of course!) Those hackers are in for a nasty surprise!!

Oh ok, so this might make me sound alittle slow...but I still have a question. So, the reason I can't submit my story is because of the hackers, and not because yal decided not to validate it. That is perfectly fine with me, and I will be more than happy to be patient while you undo what the hacker attack did. Mind you, it isn't hard to amuse yourself with reading this fanfiction. =) =) =)! And I think the best thing to do is get grawp to personally bring them to azkaban after they have a nice lllooonnnggg chat with Fred and George. And after their 20 year sentence in azkaban, they have to spend the rest of their lifetime being Filch's servant. Yes, now I feel better...

Dearest modlies -

Do you all have an expected timetable for the repair of the submissions? If not, I understand. I'm merely curious.

Thank you!

Marauder by Midnight written on 01/09/08 8:57

Indigoenigma - Unfortunately we don't have a timetable at the moment. However, rest assured that we are doing our best to work quickly and efficiently to rectify this problem.

Harry4Ginny written on 01/09/08 10:56

My story has disappeared from the 'Manage Stories' section. I assume this means it has not been validated, but when that has happened in the past I have had an e-mail regarding why. I haven't had an e-mail, so is that all down at the moment as well because of the hackers, or do some mods just not send them out?
Sorry for being so slow... :)

Potterphile12 written on 01/09/08 10:59

Harry4Ginny

Unfortunately our email system is down as well, which is why you might not have gotten them email. We're very sorry and are working very hard to fix all of this.

voldy_mort written on 01/09/08 13:44

Are any of the categories still working? If they are, can we still submit stories in these categories, or should we wait until it's fixed. Also , thank goodness mugglenet is back up and running!

Marauder by Midnight written on 01/09/08 15:47

voldy_mort - If you can somehow get your story in queue, that's fine. We'll still look at it. But the problem here, as you can see, is that very few people are able to submit. All the categories are working.

butter_beer_drinker written on 01/09/08 18:31

not sure how to fix it, and despite my reluctance to let him know about my work here, my hubby is a software engineer for Motorola (7 years) and has a Masters in Software Engineering. If you need some help let me know, maybe he can look it over.

Is the due date for The Winter Tales challenge post-poned? (Sorry if this was already asked/covered.) Smiles, Luna

Marauder by Midnight written on 01/10/08 8:20

butter_beer_drinker - Thank you for the offer :) If all else fails, we'll contact you.

Nevilles Girl - Winter Tales challenge has been postponed to January 26.

Pshaw! All of these suggestions for the fate of our dear, beloved hackers...

/dripping with sarcasm

Let's just hand them over to Filch - anyone know where the thumbscrews are?

Beth: You said to someone that they were getting update e-mails when the story was posted, not when it was validated... But today I got a validation e-mail from Sandy on my story The Patient, and it's visible in my profile and I can read it, but I tried to link it to a friend of mine, and they couldn't read it. I also tried logging out and then it didn't show up. I got an error message telling me the story hadn't been validated yet. I don't know whethet people who are logged in can read it or not, but either way one is supposed to be able to read 3rd-5th year even if one is not.

Just thought I'd mention it.

Marauder by Midnight written on 01/10/08 14:57

MaiaMadness - It's fine now; the story just wasn't completely validated :) Let me know if there's any other troubles with your story.
