Queue Troubles

by Anasuya @ 01/04/08 18:34
As some of you may have noticed, there are some problems with certain categories and subcategories when you try to submit stories. Unfortunately, the hacker attack has had an impact here at MNFF too, and we are unable to access certain controls needed to fix the problems. We don't know how long they will last but we'll keep you updated.

We're very sorry for the troubles this has caused and thank you all for your continued support.

EDIT: Unfortunately, due to the hacker situation, we're unable to access any of our staff emails. This includes individual mod emails and also the site staff email. If you've emailed a mod recently and haven't got a reply, this is why. If you're in desperate need of mod attention, please try PMing us over the forums.

Maia - Yes, there was an odd glitch with your story and the Admins have been made aware of it. Sorry about the confusion.

Thanks, I'm glad it's working now. :)

By the way, can choice of browser and OS make any difference regarding whether one can submit stories or not? I didn't have any problems submitting mine, obviously, and I'm on a mac running MacOS Tiger and Mozilla Firefox...

Not sure if this has been asked and answered yet, but I just tried submitting a story to the humor category but it said that the category was locked. Is this a result of the hacker?

Marauder by Midnight written on 01/12/08 10:30

Scheherazade - Everyone is experiencing that problem. Please be patient as we try to rectify this.

I have a Mac OSX and it isn't technically working for me (the box still comes up), but it actually does go to the proper category when I press submit, even though the category doesn't appear in the box. I don't know if other people have been using that method as well.

anath written on 01/12/08 12:24

When a category is locked, does it apply to stories that are already in the queu for it?

hermione_granger4life written on 01/12/08 13:25

That hacker was obviously a mean person. I can no longer submit stories as well. I don't know if mods already knew this or not but it says that the romance category is locked. The message says that category is locked, please pick a subcategory. Not too sure what that means but...good luck trying to fix all the problems! :)

hermione_granger4life written on 01/12/08 13:50

Sorry for the double comment but I think there is a way to get around the category lock. I just did it. What you have to do is click on the category you want, and just click ok when the box saying the category is locked. Then you continue on typing in the story and summary and warnings, etc, and then you click on preview. Then, the category should appear in the box it's supposed to be in. This worked for me but I don't know if it will work for everyone. Good Luck!

anath - No, the stories already in queue are still in queue. If your story shows up under "Manage Stories," you're fine.

hermione_granger4life - I will go try that. Thank you for letting me know :)

The suggestion hermione_granger4life had worked for me too! YAY!

anath written on 01/14/08 17:42

Yeah, hermione_granger4life's idea worked for me too. It worked even twice, with two different stories. One of them is already validated, hopefully the other will pass too. Thanks, hermione_granger!

hermione_granger4life written on 01/14/08 18:30

You're welcome to both! I'm glad to help! I was going crazy not being able to post a story so I was just oh, I'm clicking it anyway...lol. And it went through. Happy Writing to everyone!

hermione_granger4life's suggestion worked for me too. If it's of any help, it was into the Other Pairings category. Hasn't been validated yet, but I just posted yesterday... Thanks!

InvisibleAparecium written on 01/18/08 17:50

We must feed the hackers to the giant squid after Charlie lets them play with Norberta... This is really unfair. I am ready to submit my first story, but what if it doesn't work for a long time?..... Oh, well, at least no fanfiction was deleted!

anath written on 01/19/08 16:14

When I entered the site, I noticed that there are validated stories in the Post-Hogwarts category that have been submitted later than the fourt chapter of my story Never Alone. I posted it on 01.02.08. and it is still not validated, nor rejected. Is there any messing in the category due to the hackers that may be the cause for my story falling behind in the queue?

Marauder by Midnight written on 01/19/08 22:48

anath - We are running incredibly behind in Post-Hogwarts since it has literally exploded over the past few months. I've gone through a few days myself today, but we can only do so much in a day :) I'll try to get it under control as soon as possible, but for the moment, since all the manpower has been concentrated on stabilizing the site, things in queue are going to take a while longer.

PLina written on 01/26/08 14:34

Hackers need to get better lives instead of ruining other peoples fun. I was so excited I just got my story back from my beta and OF COURSE! I can't submit. Oh well... I'll just keep writing.

Marauder by Midnight written on 01/26/08 18:04

PLina - You can submit. Just ignore the pop-up and continue submitting.
