Cleaning Continued

Hey all

As per my last post, we're going to be starting our username purge, but due to some queue troubles, we'll be doing it manually. All this means is that it will take a bit longer and that we might need a bit more cooperation from you all.

First, I would like to stress again that ANY profile with a story under it WILL NOT be deleted. So if you have a story, please don't worry. Starting tonight, we will be sending out emails to users who don't have stories and whose profiles seem to not be in use. If you don't have any stories on MNFF but would like to keep your account and you'd like to help us out a bit, please edit the following at the top of your author page bio:

Please do not delete

If we see this, we promise that we will not delete your account.

Now as much as we might try, there may be an accident or two along the way. If your profile is accidentally deleted, you may of course sign up again with the same username. Your reviews will not be deleted. We will try to avoid this at all costs, of course, but sometimes accidents happen.

And again, we'd like to stress that if you have a story that you know you won't be finishing, we ask you to remove it to relieve some stress on the database.

Lastly, we'd like to thank you all for all your support and your understanding. MNFF is a great community and we want to keep it around as long as possible and this wouldn't be possible without your continued loyalty.

thanks songbook99, Marauder by Midnight.I did edited my story....even though it was like 10 days ago,thats probly it.I just wish I had picked a better time to sumbmit a story....

I have a story that's been in the queue for awhile too, but reading this conversation helped me realize what was taking so long. Thanks everyone, for asking such great questions and thanks to everyone who're answering them!

If I might make a teeny-tiny suggestion to the mods ... when you get a free moment (ha ha) you might add a bit to the FAQ and/or submission rules to let people know that if they update/edit their story before it's validated, that it goes to the "back of the line" so-to-speak and will take longer to get validated. (sigh) I now know that this is one of the reasons my story has yet to be validated (and crossing fingers there aren't other reasons - LOL) Just a thought ... other than that you guys are doing a great job, keep it up!

Lady Alanna - We actually have record of your story being in queue for only a day; it's probably, as you have read, because you edited the chapter recently.

Harry_Potter_Mom - Well actually, I did add it to the FAQ in the Beta Forums. Since it's easier to modify for us and easier to search for for authors, it's usually kept up-to-date better than the one here (though we will try to include the same information on this main site). Thank you :D

Just wanted to show my appreciation for all the hard-working moderators without whom this site would be up s*** creek without a paddle *applause* and would also like to extend my sincerest apologies for spamming the comments system. One other thing...When is Bogus due back? Because I sent her an email last Saturday (if you're reading this Bogus, PLEASE delete all except for the most recent one!!) and she hasn't responded since, so I'm assuming she's busy with school or something or other. Is it my imagination, or is she popping in every Saturday nowadays?

Sorry for the double posting, but when it says "we have...3449 authors in this archive" does that include everyone, or just people who submitted stories?

bondman007 - All moderators work at their own pace and own schedule. Bogus will get to it when she can. As for the 3449 authors - that's the number of people who have stories on the archive.

When I try to sumbit, I selected 'Post Hogwarts' and it came up with a warning saying 'Category Locked. Please select a Sub-category.' Could someone please tell me what's wrong?

A small reminder about that "Go on as if you don't see that message" should be added. Make sure you don't also bypass the ratings and warnings! Several rather violent fics have recently come through with a first-year rating and no warnings, and I'm cheerfully blaming the system's quirks rather than the writers'. Do make sure you haven't whizzed past something important.

So are stories that haven't been reviewed on in months going to be deleated? Or is that up to the user?

We will not be deleting any account with stories under it. However, if an author decides to delete a story on their own, well, that's their decision.

I've deleted two now - two romance stories that were greatly embarrassing me. I encourage others to do the same - if you hate one of your stories, delete it! Story counts don't matter, its the quality of your stories!!

Mods - I re-submitted a story last Saturday (the 19th) and when I logged on today, I checked my Manage Stories section, and no stories were found. I have NOT received any emails, rejection or acceptance. Am I a unique case, or is the staff email down AGAIN? Because I was under the impression that it was back up by now...
