Guidelines For Submissions

by Vindictus Viridian @ 03/24/08 10:01
We have now passed 300 fanfic chapters waiting in the queue -- do please be patient with our modding speed.

Also, we have changed none of the submission guidelines. Stories need to have ONE category heading only, and absolutely must be carefully proofread to conform to standard English -- preferably British English. Literary experiments with form or style must be clear. Your title should look like a title; your summary should summarize and be as well-proofed as your fic. Certain topics, body parts, and activities are still not permissible: bestiality (including Animagus/animal), incest, and so on, for instance, will not be posted here. You may have two chapters in queue only if they are of two different fanfics in two different categories, but definitely no more than that, or of a single story. The only exception, ever, is if you have made special arrangements with your category moderator -- such as if your whole fic was accidentally deleted instead of a single chapter.

We would genuinely LOVE to have a 100% validation rate at this site because we had 100% high quality submissions, but, sadly, that hasn't happened yet. We're getting closer all the time, though! Thank you to all of you, writers and betas together!

Just wondering: can we make edits on chapters that are waiting to be validated without them being bumped to the back of the queue now?

I'm not sure if this was a glitch at all, or if it's inevitable...

Grimmrook - As stated in the Terms of Service, if a review has been placed on an unvalidated chapter, it is the author's responsibility to report it to a moderator.

Padfoot is MINE - It is inevitable. When you edit a chapter, regardless of whether or not it is in queue, your updated date changes. The queue is ordered specifically on your updated date. Also while we understand that some corrections must be made while a chapter is in queue, we highly recommend that you have the chapter as prepared as possible when submitting.

MbM... That's just it... I don't know if the chapter's been validated. I'm not sure how to check (and I'm sure the answer to that is stupidly silly, and I'm sorry for not knowing this), and the content of the review does not bother me at all, but it addresses the plot in such a way where the reviewer could have read the chapter or not... They are confused, I'm confused, and I hate asking for help on this one.

Okay, going away now, sorry.

oh... Read your answer to Padfoot... again nevermind, pay me no attention...

Grimmrook, your chapter was validated. It appears as if you just did not receive the validation letter. The update date has been adjusted to reflect your actual update.

Grimmrook - Also for future references, you can see the status of your chapter by following instructions given in this thread.

Thank you. I'm sorry if I can be a pain in the butt sometimes.

Perhaps this has been addressed before, but has MNFF considered establishing a "trusted authors" list, as some other sites do? That is, authors who have demonstrated their ability to submit chapters conforming to all site rules, and thus can be given the privilege of having their chapters uploaded automatically without needing manual mod approval?

(Said privilege to be revoked, naturally, if they are discovered posting anything that violates the rules.)

I don't hang out in the forums, so I apologize if this is an issue that's already been hashed around previously. But if it were possible to do this, it would probably save a lot of modding time and shorten the queue.

Inverarity, we do have something similar to that.

I can't seem to add stories to my favorites since the update and some of the ones I had are gone (even though the story itself is still available on Mugglenet.Anyone else having this problem and know how to fix it?

Andromeda_Tonks written on 03/29/08 6:17

I'm having the same problem as lyssa0128

Andromeda_Tonks written on 03/29/08 12:56

Just ignore what I said above - I've worked out what I was doing wrong. lyssa0128, you may have been doing the same thing as me - in which case what you have to do is click th submit button underneath where it asks you to post a comment, although you don't actually have to comment. I hope I've been useful (ish).

Not sure exactly where to ask this, hope it's ok if I ask here...

I'm having trouble updating my profile. Whenever I try, I come up with an error message that says "The website is unable to display the webpage." I haven't been able to update my bio, and though I know my poem was rejected, I don't know why because the rejection letter was sent to an email adress I no longer use. Is this just a glitch or am I the only one having problems? Sorry if this isn't the proper place to ask...

Lalalalatina written on 03/29/08 14:24

I just looked at the forum and saw that my problem was already adressed, so sorry about that!

I noticed when I clicked 'manage stories' a little index labeled "Submitted," with a zero under it for each category. Care to enlighten me? ^_^

myownmuggle written on 03/31/08 16:53

Please visit the MNFF Beta Boards to report your glitches. We've set up a specific forum to report these issues there in order to consolidate them in one place.

I just posted a story a couple of days ago. I didn't expect fast turnaround time, but the story has disappeared. I haven't gotten a rejection letter. I didn't submit it to multiple categories. Its been beta read, the punctuation and spelling has been proof read by multiple people. I just don't get it.
