April Fool's!

Well, it is time for the moderators to own up to our little prank. The Updated Submissions Policy was a hoax. Yes, that's a right, just a lovely little prank pulled by the moderators to help celebrate the birthday of those beloved twins, Fred and George Weasley.

We hope all of you enjoyed it, though it appears to have distressed a few.

Just to make everything crystal clear, though, MNFF is not charging the users a fee for anything. This site has always been, and remains, a free site. Enjoy!

Edit: While the charges were a joke, there were some things that came out in the comments that should be taken seriously.

First off, this joke grew out of how many submissions we receive where it is blatantly obvious the people did not read the submission rules. The lesson there is: Always read the Submission Rules before submitting.

Secondly, along with the idea of reading the rules, it is always recommended that anyone planning to submit have a beta reader look over their submission before adding it to the queue. Even if you are fabulous with writing, chances are that you have a few typos sprinkled throughout your story/chapter that you will not catch because your mind will skip right over them. Please, please have someone look over your submission before you send it in.

Finally, rudeness on the site will not be tolerated. Not between members and not directed at moderators. We are all here to have a good time.

You guys totally got me! I was so upset that I might have to switch to another site (because I'm a broke teenager who can't afford to pay for all the mistakes I make), but then randomly I thought, "I really REALLY hope this is just an April Fool's Day joke, and I'm really REALLY glad it was.

And congrats on your senses of humour, mods! You pulled this off terrifically!

That was such a rude joke. I'm a very gullible person when it comes to April Fools day. Thank God it isn't real. I would have really died. On the plus side, *Gred and Forge* would have found it *bloody brilliant*

That was a good prank... I suppose I should really start ignoring everything people say to me on April Fool's, too bad I'm too gullible.

THANK GOD. I was so sad, because I just submitted my first story, and I was becoming quite fond of this site. I really didn't want to leave, but I couldn't risk losing money over something I was just doing for fun. I am so happy it wasn't real.

Ha, I knew it was a hoax from the time I got frantic pm's and I looked at the page. I never for one second though oh darn, I'm going to be broke! Lol...I just kept pm-ing everyone back reminding them of the date...lol. I pm'd Roxy a little while after the thing was posted and was like nice joke...lol. Though I do agree with having a beta look over your work. In the past, I can't even beging to describe the amount of mistakes I have made...lol. Now, I have developed the helpful gift of actually being able to distance myself from my work enough to look for my own errors myself...lol. My friends tell me I have an intense beta style but it gets the jobs done.
Great joke you guys; you fooled a LOT of people and I do love the Owl-os...I've ordered like, twelve boxes in the past two days...lol. -Emma

Oh, good. Thanks. Don't worry, even if the usual layouts were here I'd keep Gred and Forge for awhile. I was just scared that my usual one disappearing was some type of post-upgrade change... Pinkness, here I come!

Wait a sec. The twins don't particularly strike me as all that pink... I guess it's their Sparklypoo coming out!

Are Fred and George supposed to be pink?! I mean, Umbridge pink? Because they are lilac on my screen and not shocking pink at all. In fact, they are quite lovely, but... not pink.

I, for one, knew it was a joke right off the bat b/c of the excessive charges :) But I just read thru most of the comments in the original announcement and WOW are there some rude people, or what? They should all apologize to the mods for over-reacting, sheesh.
