Reviews For How to Wait

As one half of an infertile couple I can really relate to this theme. It's a really difficult thing to experience and you really 'got it'. The helplessness, and frustration, and the bitter sweetness of a friend or family members pregnancy. This is a lovely story. Well done.

Author's Response: I'm so sorry to hear of your situation. I wrote this from some limited experience myself, and am so glad you felt it rang true. Thanks again. I appreciate you taking the time to review!

I first read this ages ago, back when I was one of those un-reviewing heathens, and then read it about 5-6 times after that. Since you started saying nice things about my fic the guilt over not reviewing has sort of become unbearable. I'm sorry this is so overdue.

This is one of my favourite R/Hr stories ever. Everything about it is - them. I love how Ron is still Ron but has clearly matured. I love Hermione's note, how she is so obviously hurting but still thinks she will be okay on her own. The whole intimacy of Ron lying behind her and her snuggling up to him on instinct. I also really like the fact that there is no reason that they can't conceive. So many fics put it down to past injuries but this is just so much more heartbreaking and hopeless. Even with all their bravery and smarts, they have no way of getting over this. On a lighter note, Hermione wanting to drown her sorrows in a mountain of books and Ron knowing this is about as perfect a characterisation as you could hope to read.

If it wasn't for the fact that we know that Rose is on her way soon this fic would have destroyed me.

Author's Response: Unreviewing heathens... haha. Well, guilt was never my intention, but I can hardly deny the smile this review brought to my face. I'm very grateful this fic has received so much love. It's so short, and so not what I usually see written about these two. I actually wrote it for another Romione shipping friend for her birthday and was a little nervous to post it. Wasn't real sure there would be an audience for a story that really happens because Hermione started her period. (Can't believe I just typed that.)

I'm glad you thought the characterization worked. There are those out there who think Ron will never be able to predict Hermione's moves, but I just can't agree with that. He matures so much in DH and I believe they would be pretty in tune with one another. As for the bout with infertility, it came about in my mind because I imagine them getting married fairly quickly after DH, and wondered that Rose didn't come along for so many years. This is my interpretation of that.

Thanks so much for the kind words. Reviews are almost always a great thing, but they are that much more gratifying when coming from someone whose writing I really enjoy reading myself. So thanks for this.

I checked out your bio, btw. I am old, too.

Sorry to leave another review for a story I've already reviewed...I haven't read it for a long time, and I'm in a different place now. The last review I left said I nearly cried...I did cry this time.

You are really one of my favorite writers, Lori, and I feel like you get inside my head where I've got Ron and Hermione stored up and you write them in words I can't get across and its beautiful and I love reading your stuff. Don't stop writing, and if you don't get bored with them :) don't stop writing Ron and Hermione.

~Amanda

Author's Response: Aw, Amanda, this review is just love. You know I'm a fan of yours as well--knowing what a good writer you are makes your words that much more meaningful. I'm glad you connected to this one, especially since I wrote it for your birthday. ;) As for Ron and Hermione, they are home base for me, and I'm working another chaptered story along the lines of Shell Cottage for them. Thanks so much for always being such an encouragement to me, friend. It means more than you know!

It was beautifully done. I was wavering toward dramione of late (though I have always been fiercely canon), but this brought me back to why Romione are what they are. And Ron's humour has been captured really well. It made for a good read, and a bittersweet smile in the end.

Author's Response: Oh, you've made my day if this fic has swayed you more toward Romione than Dramione. LOL. I jest. (sort of) Thanks so much for reading this and taking time to review. I'm glad you enjoyed it.

This was very touching and well written. I felt your Ron and Hermione were so realistic, and in-character. And of course it is nice to know that in the end they do get to have a baby. Keep up the good work! :)

Author's Response: Without the canon ending, I'm not sure I would have enjoyed writing this so much. :) Thanks for reading and taking the time to review. I'm so glad you liked it.

This is such a touching, and touchy, subject but you handled it very well. Aside from the fact that I always imagined that Hermione would want to work a few years before she had kids I could totally see something like this happening. I often think of women as being fertile and perhaps in this case Ginny got the Weasley fertility gene. I always considered Molly as a sort of Fertile Myrtle! LOL Likewise, perhaps Hermione's parents had fertility problems too and that's why she's an only child. Whatever the case, I think they were completely in character. Thanks for the lovely read.

Author's Response: I imagine Hermione as working a couple of years before trying to get pregnant, too. Rose was not born until 2006 I think, so that would be 8 years between the Battle and Rose's birth. If Ron and Hermione marry a year or so after the battle, she could work a few years and then still have this happen and be facing a couple of years of infertility before getting pregnant with Rose. That was my thinking, and I hope it makes sense. Thanks for taking the time to read and review this... I'm so glad you thought it was good read. :)

Yay! I liked it loads. I actually had the same idea running around the inside of my brain, scratching at the sides, trying desperately to get out. It's still in there...

Author's Response: I'm glad you liked it. Thanks! :)

WONDERFUL! I've been looking for a Ron/Hermione fic lately and this HITS THE SPOT! Great job!

Author's Response: Ooh... nothing makes me happier than scratching someone's R/Hr itch. Thanks for the review!

This was beautifully written and brought me to tears. As someone who can not have children, I know exactly how it feels to "have a front seat" for someones pregnancy. Luckily for me, I also have a supportive husband. Everything you write is so wonderful, please keep writing!!

Author's Response: What a kind review this is -- thanks so much for taking the time to let me know you liked it. I'm so sorry to hear of your situation, but I'm relieved you felt this scene "rang true" to the real life experience. Thanks again, and take care. ~ Lori

i really like this, but then again, i adore anything you write, so im a bit biased. :) are you adding more to it? i'd love to know.

Author's Response: Oh, what a kind thing to say. :) I hope I don't disappoint you anytime soon. Haha. Thanks for reading and reviewing -- I really appreciate it!

Loved this one shot! You really do know how to capture Ron and Hermione - I agree with you, I don't think they would have told anybody, not even Harry. I think my favorite part was the very end when Hermione rolled her eyes over Ron picking the place to eat. Perfect, that's them in a nutshell!

Author's Response: Thanks. I'm glad you liked the end. I can't see Ron being so sweet about spending hours in a bookshop unless he knew there was some food coming his way later on. ;) Thanks for reading and always taking the time to review--I appreciate it.

Again- you did it again!
I loved the idea that Ron and Hermione would keep trying to get pregnant to themselves and not tell anyone.
You have them so checked in. And I strongly believe that Ron would get more mature the older he gets. That Hermione needs someone who is not as rigid as herself- she needed someone who could see through that. The clues are there throughout the wholes series!
Again great job and keep them coming!

Author's Response: Thanks so much for the kind words. I wasn't sure at first about them keeping it to themselves, but now I'm ready to stand by it. Though in this fic, I did initially have Ron hesitating at Harry's door, wishing he could confide in him about what is going on... but he doesn't because he and hermione promised to keep it between them for now. Anyway, interesting to think about. I'm glad you thought it worked. Thanks again for taking the time to review.
