Somehow less downright evil and more dastardly sinister than I ever expected Nott to be.

I feel kind of sorry for Theodore and his father. They seem to be very objective but also very cold. I don't think a relationship with either one of them would be very satisfying. Sure, you'd have money but there's way more to life than money. Good story though.
Author's Response: Thanks, that's exactly how I wanted to portray the Notts. Perhaps I'll write a story about what Pansy thinks of Theo.

Whenever I read a story like this I wonder wether anyone actually can be so calculating and control their emotions to such a degree. Maybe it is a blessing that I have been spared such knowledge.
Anyway, the story is masterfully crafted.
Author's Response: The Notts are certainly obsessive and controlling. I like the idea that they were a lot more cautious, sneaky and clever than the Malfoys. Plus Theo makes a great villain. :-D

I've been reading your stories for two years now and you're the only author who I'm able to read. I'm leaving this review because after reading this story I went back to read the Pencil Portrait Problem and I found a problem between the two. In that story you said that Theodore watched his mother die from fever when he was eight years old but in this story she dies from a broom crash during Goblet of Fire.
Author's Response:
Thanks for the review, and for the compliment. You’re quite right.I made the decision to change my history (it’s something I’ve done a couple of times, usually with minor characters like Theo Nott). I confess that I usually amend the original story before submitting the new one. I have changed PPP to fit with my revisions, unfortunately, it seems that I have not uploaded the amended version. (I’m in the process of fixing that, but the amended version breaks the 10000 word chapter limit). I’ve also realised that I needed to submit the slightly changed ending to Moon, too. That is done. Thanks for letting me know.

I love so many things about this story! First of all, I think the Notts are really interesting, and your take on them is so unique - a family of largely self-interested yet disinterested players. I think your integration of the Arthurian legends inspired by the "Noble and Most Ancient House of Black" is brilliant and terrifically original, and I love how you've integrated the concept of the Knights of the Round Table being the founders of the most powerful pureblooded British wizarding familys from the Badly-Fitting Coat into this story. And finally, I think your idea of turning Azkaban over to the goblins is astoundingly good. Bravissimo!
Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
As you can probably guess, I needed some more background information on the Notts for a different story, and this was the result. The Arthurian legends are a mess of contradictions and a lot of the knights are very unpleasant. The Azkaban idea is an old one, but I like it, too.

The dynamic between Thornton and Theodore is quite different than what I've pictured before, but I like your version best. I liked the calculations and the precision of the planning of everything. Very good.
Cheers!

Author's Response: Thanks Katie.
I hope that Theodore has a lot of his father's attitudes and ideas. He's not a particularly pleasant person, but I had a lot of fun writing about him. You'll be seeing him again soon.-N-

Another great one-shot.
I can see why you chose Nott, character don't come much more "Minor" than him. As he was hardly mentioned AT ALL in the books.
I really liked the way you have developed the character. Theodore may not be a Death Eater, but he is, in his own way, as ruthless as them

Author's Response: Thank you.
As you say, other than the fact that he’s “weedy†we know almost nothing about Theodore Nott. It seemed to me that he Nott was a loner, he certainly didn’t join Draco’s gang. I see him as being amoral rather than immoral.-N-

Wholly believable picture of the happenings in the life of the Nott family. Well up to your usual brilliant standard.
Author's Response: Thanks.
I was originally going to call this “Why Nott?†but I resisted. Expect to see Theodore again very soon.-N-

Useful? Decorative? If I was Araminta I would return from the dead and strangle this man. And I hate how the snatcher gets off the hook.
As for Pansy- well, you get back what you give, i suppose.
A well-written story and of course it accords perfectly with the 'Northumbrian canon"!
The Notts- what do I say? Hated the father from the beginning, and whatever sympathy I had for the son was lost before the end, but very very realistic depictions. And these people hold the key to Arthur's treasure? Oh no!
Author's Response: Thanks for the review.
Casual sexism, always guaranteed to annoy. :-D However, Thornton Nott is not exactly forward-thinking or progressive. You aren’t supposed to like the Notts, but stories need villains, and Theodore will be making several appearances very soon. The Round Table Knights (and most people reading this won’t know why we’re talking about them) were an unpleasant bunch. The tales are of betrayal, incest, rape, extra-marital affairs and sibling rivalry. I see no reason to make their descendants nice people.
