A very good piece of writing, which shows the personalities of both Albus and Grindelwald brilliantly.

Finished it! Can I just say, so interesting you have them commentating on things of their time, like nietszche's übermensch, Strauss and Wagner! Grindelwald using nietszche to support his views, as well as the concert programming.... That's just really well thought out, it must have been fascinating to figure out how each character would react on approaching these things for the first time. Great job! And don't worry about missing the met's ring cycle this season- lepage's new production, with the 'machine', is really, really awful. The old production was so much better! This one is incredibly static- which really doesn't help considering götterdämmerung is like 5 hrs- I looked over at one point and most of the audience was asleep! It doesn't help that they pulled in Luisi to conduct rather than Levine, the whole thing was rather sad- the ny times just about said as much! Now that I've filled up your review box...sorry. :/ but it makes me happy to find another classical musician/ music lover! If you want to private mail me it's under this sn; I'm also in ravenclaw :) cheers!
Katha

Author's Response: A belated thank you for the second review! I did send you a PM but I don't know if you got it. I'm watching the Lepage production on PBS now and must say - I quite like it. I could see its faults, but there is too much that I enjoy to write it off. I am loving Bryn Terfel more than anything and think some of the set pieces with the machine just make for a spectacular visual. But that's nothing to do with the story - thanks again for coming back, hope you got my message, feel free to poke me about classical music anytime! ~Gina :)

Haven't finished reading the fic yet, but having you mention Wagner, and specifics, made me so happy! Was it Rienzi you had in mind? And if you're holding the same as Dumbledore's views- try listening to the Tristan Overture with Barenboim conducting the Met. Will convert anyone! :) Can't wait to finish reading it, and have to say that I read a lot of your one-shots because they, for lack of better words, fit the 'short story' form so well and really give body to the characters. Cheers!

Author's Response: YES! Oh, I'm so excited! Yes, yes, it was the Rienzi Overture. I do find it a bit lighter than some of Wagner's other works, but no, I don't agree with Dumbledore. I'd give anything to see The Ring at the Met next spring! But given that Dumbledore's Chocolate Card says he enjoys chamber music, I can't see him enjoying a lot of Wagner's music. It's just too big to be as intimate as his preferred smaller ensembles. Are you familiar with the other two pieces at all? Thank you so much for reading this story, that little one in the review box was very sad, lol! I'm glad you enjoyed it and so many of my other stories. Thank you so much, you've made my night!! ~Gina :)

I can quite easily see this evening as having taken place. Well done.

Author's Response: Thank you so much! I am thrilled you found the idea of them attending such a concert and discussing such things over such works believable. I felt like I was stretching it a bit at times and perhaps seeing things that aren't really there. Thank you so much for reading this, I really appreciate the review! ~Gina :)
