Haunting. It seems like Harry and Hermione were soul mates. They could read each other's minds. I think they'll always share this closeness despite Ron and Ginny.

Author's Response: Thank you. Yes, I feel the same. I think there is a unique friendship between the two of them that Ron and Ginny aren't a part of, just like Ron and Harry share a particular connection that Hermione is not a part of.

Love the story. So cute.

What the heck? Where's the rest of my review???

I especially love the part where Harry and Hermione in the cold, with the tea and the blanket and Ron snoring. You captured something special with Harry in that moment, the gratitude he feels, his concern that things are okay with Ron. I like that Hermione asked him what happened with the Horcrux. I don't think she would be able to let it go, not without trying to find out from one of them, and Harry is the best choice at that time. I think its so interesting that you had him choose Ron first (by keeping the secret), and then choose her over Ron (by telling her anyway). Ah, the problem with three. :)

Your characterization is perfect, and particularly with Harry, as his emotions are hard to capture and hard to write sometimes. But this was so, so him. Beautiful, beautiful stuff, but then I wouldn't expect anything less from you.

Author's Response: Thank you so much, Lori! It's so nice to see canon shippers such as yourself enjoying an almost-but-not-quite Harmony fic. I've had this idea about Hermione asking Harry what happened with the Horcrux for a long time, so it was nice to finally get that down on the page. I knew Harry wouldn't divulge the secret right away, and I even felt a bit weird having him admit it at all, but I see that as very much a moment of true friendship and trust between him and Hermione. I'm so glad you like my characterisation of Harry. I do love to write him but I also question my judgement a lot of time so it's so nice to hear your affirmation :) Thank you for this lovely review (or reviews, rather). -Julia xxx

This is utterly gorgeous, Julia. I love the trio friendship more than anything in the books, and this is a beautiful picture of all the facets of that between Harry and Hermione. (And Ron too, really)

Author's Response: Ah the case of the disappearing review ;)

Gaaaaaaaaaaaah. Julia, I really don't understand why this story doesn't have more reviews, because it is gorgeous! I remember reading the drabble about the broken glasses and loving it to bits, and reading more of that really understated Harmony vibe was just so lovely. I loved those moments in the tent, and my heart totally went out for Hermione when she saw Harry struggle with her wand because she clearly felt guilty for breaking Harry's. And that bit when Hermione asked Harry what had happened when Ron came back -- argh, the way Harry just changed the subject and that moment of understanding between them... it was so tangible and real to me.

But I was also glad to see Harry tell Hermione the truth about the Horcrux, and I loved how Hermione kept going back to that moment in the tent. And the ending line was perfect.

Sorry, incoherent review here, but fabulous, fabulous story, Julia! Honestly, you deserve far more reviews than this. Definitely one of my favourite stories by you. :)

Author's Response: Soraya! I'm so sorry it's taken me this long to reply. I absolutely squeed when I read this review so thank you, thank you, thank you! Even though this doesn't have many reviews on MNFF, I have received some amazing comments from the Harmony community on LJ, so I don't despair too much. What's lovely, though, is the feedback from you and Carole because you aren't Harmony shippers, and yet you enjoyed this fic. I love writing about them, even in a more subtle, almost-platonic way like in this fic, and it's so great to hear when the feelings I experienced while writing something came across to the readers, too. While your review was NOT incoherent, this reply definitely is, so I apologise for my rambling! Thank you so much for this review, Soraya. It's made me grin like an idiot! -Julia xxx

I did read this last night, and would have reviewed only .... I was too blown away. I'm not entirely sure what I was expecting - especially as you hadn't called it Harriet and Herman go Ho'ing in Hogsmeade (can't think why) but this far exceeded any expectations I had, especially when I read the parts I wasn't familiar with, and rediscovered the drabbles I'd read before.

I love their relationship here. Unlike the H/Hr I've read before (and there haven't been that many, tbh) this reads as plausible because the current between them is slight and understated. I can believe that there were these moments between them that could have led to more if only Ron didn;t snore - ha ha. No, what I mean is that if Ron had never returned, or had gone back to Hogwarts, then I can see how they'd be together. Even his presence there can't prevent their close relationship - and nor should it - because what is so special about this story and them, is that they are friends primarily and closer, dare I say it, than Harry and Ginny. - ends random musings on friendships/ possible romances.

It also struck me, reading your story, how they are the two outsiders in the group, so whilst Ron and Ginny will always have their family, Harry and Hermione are always that bit apart from them. This was brilliantly illustrated in the final part of this story when you had Harry having to leave the party because of the noise, and Hermione joining him. I can see that happening because both are just not as used to family as Ron, for instance, and Harry especially must need moments apart from it all.

Anyway you know all this because it's your story - ha ha. I should also mention that I adored the imagery in this.

There is a bubbling, seething darkness that writhes beneath her ribs.

This line, particularly, really captured Hermione's despair and anger and helplessness. And I also loved how you connected everything: the blue flames, glasses, Ron;s snores, and their need for silence which I don;t think the Weasleys would ever understand.

Anyway, I shall sign off now. Just a fabulous story, so beautiful, but then it's you, so what else could I expect? ~Carole~

Author's Response: I have tried to respond to this lovely review on numerous occasions. Thank you so much, Carole! Thank you, thank you, thank you. To be honest, I love Harry and Hermione in a platonic, canon setting just as much as I love reading and writing them in non-canon, if not more so. If someone wants to read more into their relationship then that's great, but it's nice just seeing them in friendship, too. I love that this fic made you look at them a little differently. They do have a unique relationship. It is not more deep or meaningful than the other trio relationships but it is important. I like to think of them having quiet moments together throughout their lives because, as you said, they come from very different backgrounds compared to the large and loud Weasley family. I'm so glad you liked that aspect of the fic. Again, thank you so much for this lovely review and forgive me for not responding sooner! Julz x
