Now he knows. I guess I didn't expect Albus to be angry but I've only been a mom so I don't know how a dad would feel. Even if he's happy about having a son he would probably still keep it a secret.

Author's Response: I think I'd be pretty angry if someone tricked me into having a child. Even if it was Minerva!

It sounds like Albus is starting to get suspicious about Malcolm's ability. I wonder if it runs in the Dumbledore family. And, I wonder what Albus is going to check out in his library. I hope you update soon.

Author's Response: Albus is a smart guy, after all. Next update is in the queue.

That was a nice talk between Malcolm and Alastor. I used to like to walk along the beach. It really takes some muscles though to do that.

Author's Response: Yeah, I thought Malcolm could use a little dad-type talk.

No one likes to think of their parent(s) having sex. Malcolm is no different. I wonder if you'll tell us what happened to Gerald. Not that I like him but it would be interesting to know. If anyone can track him down it would be Moody. Does the Auror Corps have workman's comp? It would be nice for them to recognize her sacrifice. An eye is a very important thing.

Author's Response: No, Malcolm's no different, LOL! I have to imagine all will be revealed in time, don't you?

I wonder when someone's going to figure out that Malcolm looks like Albus. But even if they think they've figured it out they probably won't believe it anyway. Maybe Malcolm will grow a big beard and then people will figure out who he looks like.

Author's Response: I wonder...

I'm really starting to understand how someone may want to be alone after losing a spouse, either through divorce or death. I can understand how the relationship hadn't been good in the first place and someone might just think they're better off by themselves.

Author's Response: I would think that someone like Minerva would relish being on her own, after her early experiences!

How did I miss three new chapters being put up? I kept checking and didn't see anything until last night. I think with children, people usually think what you tell them. Probably no one remembers Gerald that much and I'd probably just say that Malcolm takes more after his mother.

Author's Response: Possibly they weren't approved yet? I think you're right--people often believe what they're told without looking closer.

I'm so glad to hear that Malcolm will be coming home to Scotland and will be closer to his mother and his father. I'm sure Minerva's son is very advanced and I'm sure he feels a sting from being a British student in a French school. If the other students didn't know his background then he could probably pass as a French student if he wanted. But it sounds like Beaubatons is a close community where everyone knows everything about someone else.

Author's Response: It was time to bring him home, LOL. I think being 15 is very hard no matter one's circumstances.

Albus and Minerva are so intelligent but they're acting so naive right now--about their past. I kind of wish they'd pick up their intimate relationship again and have Minerva tell Albus that Malcolm is their son.

Author's Response: It is amazing how foolish some really intelligent people can be at times, isn't it?

Now that's a pleasant surprise. I hope Gerald suffered a quick death, not that I didn't like him, but because he was so weak and stupid. And, now, Minerva doesn't have to be bothered with him now. I wonder if Albus knows that Malcolm is his son. I'll be he does. He knows everything else.

Author's Response: We'll have to see what became of Gerald. And what Dumbledore knows and doesn't know...

What happened to her husband?

Author's Response: That's the question, isn't it?

That was nice of Minerva to clean Gerald up and to not insist that he listen to what happened while he was drinking. Even though Minerva is trying to make the best of the situation, I still feel bad for her.

Author's Response: Well, she's a decent person and she's doing her best in a bad situation. I think she feels a bit sorry for Gerald, despite everything. She understands what it means to be trapped by family expectations.

Ah, those memories of Albus. That's a new one--Gerald not wanting her to interact with him too much during sex. He's such a poor pathetic person. I couldn't even call him a man.

Author's Response: Gerald is indeed a very sad man. Thanks for reading and commenting!

Maybe Gerald has had his eyes opened although it's too late. Gerald has been abused by his father too. Kenneth never raised him to act like a grown-up. Gerald and Minerva should've had their own home from the start. All I can say is ewww.

Author's Response: Eww, indeed. I felt sort of sorry for Gerald. I don't think he's a bad guy at heart, but as you say, his parents weren't exactly the best.

There's something about being at your parents' house. I always feel safe there. I can't believe that idiot thought he could pull something over on Minerva. I was going, "Yay Minerva." I wonder what will happen now that she's run off from the McNairs.

Author's Response: Me too. I think the Macnairs underestimate women in general, and Minerva in particular!

For a moment I forgot that the two older women were lesbians and I thought that maybe Zel had had a relationship with Albus and then Minerva would be heartbroken. I hope she does get to separate from her worse half and maybe set up a home office in Hogsmeade.

Author's Response: No, I think Griselda is pretty committed to Bathlida in my head-canon. It would be nice for Minerva to get away from her husband, but not quite yet...

Great chapter! So I was right for once. That is Albus' baby. I'm sure Gerald doesn't even care. He has his heir so he won't have to have distasteful sex with Minerva. That baby is sure to be much loved by his mother and a very powerful wizard.

Author's Response: Glad you enjoyed it. I think Gerald is pretty oblivious. I suspect this baby will be well loved. ;-)

I hope that's Albus' baby. I didn't pay attention to the dates so I'll have to go back and look. It would be unfortunate if it were Gerald's.

Author's Response: Right. Minerva is pretty sure she doesn't want an actual Macnair baby.

That in no way resembled my wedding night. Of course I wasn't bound by a marriage contract. :P "Master" was Gerald's father I presume. He was certainly disgusting. I'm so glad Minerva has some good memories so she can try to get through this whole ordeal. I won't even mention that the contract only has a fidelity clause for the female.

Author's Response: Mine, either! Yes, that was his father. Yes, 1940's magical Britain is a deeply misogynist society in my imagining.

I can see myself acting as Minerva did--almost, like entering into a formal agreement for a purpose. Happily I never had to do that. Like Albus and Minerva I had to giggle at the absurdity of it all,.

Author's Response: It is absurd, isn't it? This Minerva is very driven and very focused on outcome, as it were.
