In the midst of a cool night of December, a woman woke up to an uneasy feeling in her stomach. She opened her eyes warily and stared at the ceiling that hung above her. This was the third time in a week that she has woken up, queasy. The first and second time, she had her husband there to comfort her but tonight he was still away at work.

She sighed and swung her feet over her bed. Yawning, she slowly stood up and grabbed a robe. She knew better than to just lie in her bed and wait for the sickness to end. The first night, she clenched her jaws shut but only made her mouth feel weak. The second night she tried to go to sleep through it but only woke up a minute later, sicker than before.

She automatically slipped her wand in her pocket and walked out of the bedroom. Shuffling her feet, she entered the kitchen room and walked to the little refrigerator. She opened it, the light basking her as she grabbed the milk carton. Ending the humming noise, she closed the refrigerator and grabbed a cup.

The only reason she was having milk was because of her mother. She had called her mother earlier in the day, telling her mother of her odd night sickness. Even though her mother had sound concerned, she also seemed a little excited but wouldn’t explain why.

Though the milk had help, which surprised Lily, she was still feeling sick. Her head sharply turned to the living room when she heard a rustling noise. Standing up slowly and withdrawing her wand, she walked to the doorframe that enters to the living room. It was coming from the fireplace, some ashes fluttering out. Then the noise stopped and shortly after a parchment flew out and landed neatly on the side table next to the couch.

Lily walked to the table, her wand still pointing at the fireplace. Without taking her eyes off the fireplace, she picked up the paper and brought it to her eyes.

Lily,

If you are still awake, though you had better not be, I will be coming home after a half an hour. If you are asleep, then this letter will be pointless, since you will find yourself in my arms.

Lily smiled to herself. He was so sweet.

Well, go to bed my love. I will see you in the morning.

From your loving and handsome husband,

James Potter

She brought the paper up to her lips and kissed it, sending it mentally to James. She then gingerly put it down, as if she were afraid that it would break easily and started to go back to her bedroom. Just before she stepped into her room, her stomach gave a nasty lurch and her hand flew to her mouth. Turning quickly, she ran to the bathroom and barely made it to the toilet and emptied out her stomach contents.

Wiping her mouth, she weakly stood up from the floor and looked at herself in the mirror. Her face was extremely pale, her vivid auburn hair contrasting. Her green eyes were dull and she had bags under them. She sighed, she was losing a lot of hours of sleep with this strange sickness.

Tired of this whole thing, she sat down on the bathtub rim. She had to do something; she couldn’t take any more of this condition. She looked down at her stomach, wondering how something could cause her so much trouble.

That is when it came to her. She quickly stood up and pointed her wand at her body. Searching through her brain, she tried to remember the incantation.

“Err…. Sulaever Erutuf Melborp.” Suddenly, wisp of grey smoke appeared before her, making out a shape. Lily watched it work itself into a tangle before it actually made out something respectable. Floating in front of her, it seemed to have a body of a human and was extremely small though. It also seemed to be throwing a tantrum.

Lily gasped as she realized what this meant. She quickly walked through the smoke, breaking the image, and quickly fell into her bed. The first feeling she felt was excited yet frightened. This was a scary idea, a new idea. Something that James and Lily have been talking about, she just didn’t think it would come so soon.

Lily Potter was pregnant.

Before she knew it, tears were over pouring her eyes. She wasn’t sure if she was crying because she was happy or if it was because she was afraid. Whatever it was, she continued crying.

“Lily?”

Lily jumped and looked at the doorway. James was looking at her, concerned about why she was crying. He quickly walked to her side and sat down next to her, rubbing her back.

“Still sick?” he gently asked, looking into her eyes.

She looked back into James worried, hazel eyes. She knew that James wanted a child, just as much as she did. Lily then smiled, and sat up and hugged James closer to her. After pulling away, she grabbed James hands and held them in her lap.

“James, I have something to tell you,” Lily looked clearly at James eyes.

James eyebrows furrowed in confusion.

“James,” she took a deep breath, “I’m pregnant.” She couldn’t help but smile brilliantly.

James eyebrows flew up, disappearing under his messy mop of a hair. Slowly, yet surely, a smile grew on his face and he jumped up and drew Lily up in a huge hug, kissing her everywhere.

“I love you Lily! I love you, I love you, I love you, I LOVE YOU!” His voice echoed throughout the whole house.

Lily laughed and shushed him. “I love you too, my handsome husband.”

James bent down and put his ear on her stomach. Lily laughed harder and tried to push him away but James only picked her up and laid her gently on the bed. He then joined her, kissing her passionately. Finally, just lying in each other’s arms, Lily could have sworn she heard James mutter something.

“My life is complete.”

Lily couldn’t help but agree.
