CHAPTER 1

James: “There you go, you’re lucky Evans was here, Snivellus!”
Severus: “Tha- tha- thanks, I guess, Lily.”
Lily: “It’s quite alright, no one should be treated like that!”
Sirius: “Oh come on Evans, go out with James!”
Lily: “I’d rather go out with him.”

*She points at Severus. He looks shocked but bitter toward James all the same.*

James: “With Snivellus?! Over me!? Fine, have him then! I’ll leave both of you alone for good then!”
Lily: “Fine! That’s what I’ve always wanted in the first place.”

*Lily storms off. James looks at Sirius and kicks a clump of grass as they walk back to the tree. Severus gets to his feet and stammers after Lily. He walks beside her.*

Severus: “You didn’t have to stick up for me. Thanks, though. No ones ever been nice to me. Not even my own family.”

*Lily stopps and turns to him slowly.*

Lily: “Severus, like I said, no one deserves to be treated like an animal! You’re very welcome. I’m sorry about your family.”
Severus: “Do you want to go to dinner with me? You don’t have to, but I’ve never had company at a mea l… ”
Lily: “Of course, I’ll meet you in the great hall at 6. Bye for now!”
Severus: “Alright, bye!”

*She starts to walk again. Severus stands there a minute in shock. He has this feeling, a new feeling inside him. He has never felt it before in his life.*

*He slowly walks backto the Slytherin common room and up to his dorm, where he sits on his bed. For one of the first times in his life, he smiles. He is actually happy. After all the pain in his life.*

*He changes and sits in his bed until 5:30. He gets up and heads for the great hall. When he walks in, he sees her, her beautiful red hair up in a pony-tail, a few pieces hanging down in front. He walks to her and sits down. She had been day dreaming, and comes out of her reverie with a jerk.*

Chapter 2

Lily: “Oh, hey!”
Severus: “Hey, soo umm … this is a switch … ”
Lily: “Yeah it is, but change is good … ”

*Just then James, Sirius, Lupin, and Peter walk by. James sneers at Severus and doesn't look at Lily. He is obviously very upset with them. Lily doesn't look but rolls her eyes. Severus looks back at the table with a frown.*

Severus: “I think he really did like you.”
Lily: “Well he sure didn’t act like it.”

*Just as she finishes her sentence, dinner appears. Severus is quite hungry but he goes easy on eating. It seems to him that Lily does too.*

Lily: “So … how did you do on your Astronomy test?”
Severus: “Uhh … not so good, I got a P.”
Lily: “Oh, I got an O.”
Severus: “That’s good, I get an O every now and then.”

*They finish dinner while talking about trips to Hogmeade and such. Severus invites Lily to the next Hogmeade trip in two weeks.*

Lily: “Well, dinner was good, I’ll see you later then.”
Severus: “Yeah! Good night!”
Lily: “Good night!”

*Lily turns and walks toward the Gryffindor tower. He stands a minute, watching as she walked down the hall, her ponytail waving as she walked. She turns a corner, and he's all alone in a dark hallway. He slowly turns and starts to walk. Someone grabs his shoulder. It is Lucius … *

Lucius: “Well well well, associating with a Gryffindor girl. If I didn't know better, I'd think you like her …”
Severus: “Leave me alone, Lucius.”
Lucius: “Now there, I thought we were friends, Severus … ?”
Severus: “I haven’t been your friend since what you did last year! That was way to much just for a girl!”
Lucius: “Oh, still mad over Narcissa? She a great girl … in every way … ”

*Lucius gives a bit of an evil laugh.*

Severus: “Look Lucius, just stay out of my life! Stay out of my business!”
Lucius: “Fine! Have your Gryffindor tramp! That’s all you could ever get anyway … ”

*Lucius turns as he speaks his last words. That is it, Severus thinks to himself, I am tired of Lucius’s bullying. He pulls out his wand and aims it at Lucius’s back*

Severus: “Petrificus Totalus!!!”

*Lucius instantly freezes with his legs together and arms to his side. Severus gives a little smirk and walks over to him. He grabs Lucius near his stiff arms and drags him to a nearby closet. He closes the door, then walks happily back to the common room. He had been wanting to do that for years.*

CHAPTER 3

*He entered the common room and went quickly up to his bed. He got dressed into his night robe and layed down. He put his hands under his greasy haired head. He sat there thinking about how happy he now was.*

*He woke up at 8am the next morning. It was finally Saturday. He got up and went to late breakfast. He sat down at the Slytherin table. There was only a couple Hufflepuffs and a few Ravenclaws. He heard someone running down the hall outside the open Great Hall doors. As the person passed he saw flowing red hair trailing behind her. She was crying. He got up quickly, forgetting about breakfast. He ran for the door and got there when she was about to round the next corner.*

Severus: “LILY! ARE YOU ALRIGHT?! LILY?”

*She stopped suddenly recognizing his voice. She put her hands down and slowly turned toward Severus. Her eyes were red and she had tears running down her softly freckled cheeks. Her hair was messy and wet from tears.*

Severus: “Lily, are you alright? What happened??”

*He walked toward her as another tear fell. He stood a couple feet away from her. Looking into her eyes. She was still beautiful.*

Lily: “Lu-Lucius Mal-Malfoy, he-he…”

Severus: “What did he do!!!?? Did he hurt you!!???”

Lily: “He-he took the picture of my mum out of my bag and ripped it up an-and he hit me with a curse when I tri-tried to stop hi-him. I don’t know what it did, I slammed against the wall and landed on my arm, I-I’ve got this splitting pain in my arm, I-I think its broken…”

*Severus looked at her right arm. It was limp at her side.*

Severus: “I’ll make sure he gets what he deserves!! I’ll take you to the hospital wing.”

Lily: “Tha-thanks, Don’t do anything stupid Severus!”

Severus: “I’ll try not to…”

* Severus started to walk with her toward the hospital wing.*

Severus: “What was so important about your mums picture? If you don’t mind.”

Lily: “Its okay, She died two years ago… That was the last picture I had taken of her be-before she died…”

Severus: “I’m sorry… I didn’t know…”

Lily: “Its alright, only Dumbledore and the Professors know.”

Severus: “Speaking of Dumbledore, I’ll have a talk with him…”

*They reached the hospital wing. Severus opened the door and she walked in with her head hung low. A younger Madam Pomfrey came out from behind one of the curtains.*

Pomfrey: “Oh my dear! What happened to you Miss Evans?"

Lily: “Ummm… I… Ummm. I had an accident while practicing a spell.”

*She looked at Severus for support.”

Severus: “Yeah, yeah, I was there. Looked bad.”

*Madam Pomfrey looked at her arm. She lifted Lily’s sleeve very carefully. Lily let out a sigh of pain.*

Pomfrey: “Oh dear, it’s a broken arm. This should take over night. Its pretty bad in two places. Snape can you have a Gryffindor girl bring her night clothes for her?”

Severus: “Yeah sure.”

*Madam Pomfrey got up and went to a cabinet. Severus pulled up a stool and sat by Lily’s bed. Madam Pomfrey pulled out a bottle of a green liquid and poured it in a goblet. Lily was looking at her arm. Severus was looking at her beautiful green eyes. Madam Pomfrey turned to come back and stopped quickly. She thought it strange for a Gryffindor and Slytherin to be friends like this. She continued and handed Lily the goblet. Lily took it and drank.*

Pomfrey: “Drink a glass of this every hour. I need to go have Dumbledore send a letter for me. I’ll be back soon. Don’t get up!”

*Madam Pomfrey turned and left for the door. There was a click of the door and Lily and Severus were alone.*

Severus: “I’ll stay here tonight.”

Lily: “Oh you don’t have to! I’ll be fine!”

Severus: “No, I want to. I…umm… I really like you, Lily.”

*Lily looked very embarrassed. Her face was almost as red as her hair.*

Lily: “I like you too, Severus.”

*Snape was now blushing even worse than Lily.*
