Chapter 1: The Letter by softballrulz6
“HARRY! GET DOWN HERE NOW!”

What did I do now? I got up and walked over to door, took a deep breath, and walked downstairs. Aunt Petunia was sitting on the sofa and Uncle Vernon was pacing the room like he usually did when he was angry. He looked extra large today, that or he gained weight since the last time I saw him since I’ve been locked in my room for the past month until this morning.

“Sit,” he ordered without looking up from the floor. I went over and sat down on the chair farthest away from him. Finally he looked up. He stared at me for the longest time, his face growing redder every second. He looked like he was about to blow, and he did.

“WHY-ARE-THESE-PEOPLE-SENDING-US-LETTERS!” he yelled as he pulled out a letter from his pocket. I expected it to be covered in stamps like it was last year, but instead there was one stamp in the top right-hand corner.

“Well at least they put the right amount of stamps on it this year,” I said carelessly.

“These people send us a letter and all you can say is ‘at least they put the right amount of stamps on it this year’!” he exclaimed making a little boyish voice when he mimicked me.

“Well can I read it?” I asked. I expected him to hand it to me and tap his foot while I read it, but he didn’t do either of them, instead he read it out loud.

Dursleys,
I’m writing to see if you would let Harry come to visit with us the rest of the summer. He is allowed to come anytime he pleases so just send us a letter whenever you come to a decision. Please send the letter our way, the muggle way takes a little too long. We’ll come and pick him up if you allow him to come. We’ll come the muggle way this year.

Best Wishes,
Molly Weasley

I had to look like I wasn’t excited or else he wouldn’t let me go, so I bit my tongue to keep myself from smiling. Uncle Vernon was staring at me, expecting me to plead him to let me go, but since I didn’t, he sighed and said it was fine as long as I didn’t send him any letters. I agreed almost instantly, considering I never want to write them anyway.

I walked away until I was out of sight and then sprinted up the stairs, skipping the squeaky one, and ran into my room and shut the door. I glanced around the room and jumped on the bed, making it creak. I looked underneath the bed and pulled out a book, paper, and a quill.

Ron,
I can come! See you soon!
-Harry

I tied the letter to Hedwig and opened the window so she could leave. She flew out and I went and laid down on my bed smiling. I can’t wait for them to be here, I thought. Then I heard someone knocking on the front door and then I heard:

“Hello Mr. Dursley! I’m Arthur Weasley, remember I picked Harry up last year for the World Cup?”

“What? You! I thought that Molly Weasley was coming!” I heard Uncle Vernon shout. By this time I had made it down stairs and saw him shaking like a coward. I laughed and looked up at Mr. Weasley.

“Hello Harry!” Mr. Weasley said cheerfully, “Molly is here, she’s just in the car. Would you like to meet her?”

“Sure, anyone besides you,” Uncle Vernon snapped, regaining some of his height.

“Ok then!” Mr. Weasley said as he beckoned to the car for Mrs. Weasley to come, but instead, everyone came. At the sight of all the Weasleys except Bill and Charlie, Uncle Vernon started shaking worse.

“Who are all these people!” exclaimed Uncle Vernon.

Mr. Weasley chuckled and said, “This, Mr. Dursley, is my family,” he grinned wider with that and continued, “This is Fred and George, you met them last year. This is Ron, he’s in the year with Harry, and this is Ginny our only daughter. Oh and this is Molly, my wife,” he swelled up with pride just telling someone who they were especially since Uncle Vernon didn’t know them already unlike everyone in the wizarding world.

“Hello Molly,” Uncle Vernon said as he stretched out his hand.

Mrs. Weasley shook his hand and said, “Hello Mr. Dursley! We’ve heard so much about you and your family!” Uncle Vernon must of thought that these were good things and began to swell with pride. “Thank you for letting Harry come and stay with us! We’ll make sure that he gets all his supplies and gets off to school safely! Do you mind if we come in?”

“The house isn’t clean, you can’t come in!” Uncle Vernon said as he began shaking again. This was a very stupid comment seeing as the house is always clean.

“Well ok then, I’ll just go in and help Harry get his things,” Mr. Weasley said and helped himself inside. “Show me where everything is Harry!”

I grinned and led the way up to my room. “Sorry I don’t have everything packed, I didn’t know you were coming tonight…”

“That’s ok! Here I’ll pack for you!” he turned and muttered something and all my clothes flew into the trunk, a little haphazardly, but it was in there. “Sorry, Molly’s really good for this… Ok get your books and let’s go!”

I lifted the floorboard and got out my books and the cookies that Hermione sent me. I grabbed Hedwig’s cage and carried everything downstairs, followed by Mr. Weasley and my trunk. When we arrived back to the front door, Mrs. Weasley was talking to Aunt Petunia. When Aunt Petunia saw us, she said that we better be going and shooed us away. Without saying bye she shut the door and turned the porch light off.

“Well. I’m sorry to say this Harry, but your Aunt isn’t very nice,” Mrs. Weasley snapped. I nodded and laughed. I walked over to the trunk of the car and started to put Hedwig’s cage in when I noticed that she was perched on top of the car.

“You can go and hunt tonight if you want, but I’ll be at the Weasley’s till school,” I said and she gave a reproving hoot and flew away.

“Here Harry, you dropped this.”

I turned around and saw Ginny, she was blushing and holding a pair of my underwear. I blushed too. “Thanks Gin,” I said as I quickly reached out and grabbed it from her, brushing her fingers as I did so. I pulled back quickly because it felt like a wave of electricity had shot through my veins, and it looked as she had felt it too because she had also pulled back suddenly. We were staring at each other until I heard a ‘Let’s go’ from Mr. Weasley and I quickly opened my trunk and threw the underwear in it. We went and got in the car, and again this car had an engorgement charm on the inside because Fred, George, Ron, Ginny, and me were sitting in the backseat. I got to sit next to Ginny on the way and for some reason my hands kept sweating and I felt very uncomfortable and had to keep fidgeting every few seconds.

Finally after what seemed like an eternity, we arrived at the Burrow. Fred and George volunteered to get my things and Ron had to run and get some things from the garden for supper, so I had to walk with Ginny to the house. I felt myself start to sweat again and I stopped to look at some flowers so Ginny could get in front of me so I could try and figure out what was going on, but she stopped and asked what I was doing.

“This flower umm, caught my attention,” I said stupidly. She laughed and she leaned to look at the flower too. She brushed my arm and I felt the electricity again, but this time I couldn’t help but reach for her hand. Surprisingly, she let me hold it and she moved even closer. I was surprised by my sudden actions, but it made me realize why my hands were sweaty every time I got near Ginny. She was looking at me as if she expected me to say something but instead I looked away and looked at the flower. I felt her turn my face to look at her and she was getting close. Very close…

Chapter 2: The Last Dance by softballrulz6
It’s seven already! I thought as I sat up in bed and looked over at Ron, whose chest was steadily rising and falling. Making sure that the house was quiet, I got up and walked slowly down to the second floor. I stopped in front of a room to admire the painting on the door, as I had many times before. In the center was the Gryffindor lion with Gryffindor written underneath it, but what outshone the rest was what was above the lion, two words in a beautiful cursive writing with silver stars that sparkled and illuminated the whole hallway. The words were ‘Ginny’s Room’ and hanging off the G as if it were lazily put on someone’s head was a princess’s crown. It had golden stars that were bright but not like the silver ones.

After what seemed like ages, I came to my senses and remembered why I came here. I gently opened the door and looked in to see Ginny sound asleep under her red and gold Gryffindor covers. The stars on the door dimmed as if they knew that they would wake her if they shone too brightly and they added a soft glow to Ginny’s face, making her even more beautiful. I wanted to treasure this moment forever, like all the previous mornings. Soon I quickly walked over to Ginny’s bed and laid down beside her, not daring to slip under the covers and risk waking her up. I enjoyed the peacefulness of just laying here beside her without anyone awake to disrupt our moment together by ourselves, even though she may not know it.

I woke up with a start. I accidentally feel asleep for the first time since I’ve been visiting Ginny in the mornings. I looked around for the noise that woke me up, and then I heard someone coming up the stairs. I quickly got up and rolled under the bed, thankfully Ginny actually cleans under her bed. The door opened casting a warm glow across the room.

“Ginny dear, wake up,” I heard Mrs. Weasley say and then I heard a grunt somewhere above my head. “We’re going to Diagon Alley today so get up and put on some clothes.” After saying this Mrs. Weasley left and headed upstairs. That was close, I thought. I rolled from underneath the bed and gave Ginny a surprise hug from behind.

“Good morning!” I whispered happily. She turned around in my arms and smiled back. I leaned over and kissed her on the cheek and she blushed as if that was the first time I had ever done that. She looked beautiful, even if she did just get up. She had on some silky pajama pants with little lions on them that would tickle my legs whenever she leaned close and she had on a gold t-shirt that showed off her tiny figure.

“Harry, my face is up here,” Ginny said gently as she pulled my head up so I could only look at her face. I mumbled ‘sorry’ and she giggled and pulled her hands away from my face to cover her mouth o prevent herself from laughing to loudly. I grinned and began to tickle her. She was trying to get away but I was to fast for her and finally she just collapsed on her bed. I laid down beside her and we were both breathing hard and laughing. Only if I could wake up every morning like this, I thought. I naturally slipped my arm around her and she leaned against my arm. I turned her face towards me and once again, she was getting close. Very close…

“I’m getting a broom! Yeah! I’m getting a broom! Yeah!” Ron sang as we walked though Diagon Alley. I wish he would stop, I thought, he’s been singing that since we got here.

“Harry! Ron!” I turned to see Hermione skipping towards us. She gave me a quick hug and whispered, “congrats about you and Gin and I promise not to tell Ron!” Then she turned and gave Ron the biggest hug ever and he finally quit singing. Soon she began to drone on about what books she had read this summer and what they were about, every last one of them. I would rather Ron be singing…

Finally Ginny arrived after finishing shopping with her mom. “Hey guys! Mum said we could hang out for awhile and I really, really, really want to go to the ice cream shop!” Ginny squealed getting the last sentence out in one breath. We agreed and headed that way. Ginny squeezed in between me and Hermione and I automatically reached for her hand, but she moved it of my reach and shook her head. Hermione saw this and snickered but Ron paid no attention whatsoever.

Before walking in, we stopped to decide what flavor we wanted to get, there were pictures of each flavor of ice cream on the window. Ginny walked right up to the strawberry one and tapped her finger against it. It wiggled and she started to tickle and it began to laugh so that everyone on the street stopped and looked. I heard whispers of ‘I’ve never seen it do that before’ and ‘She’s torturing the innocent little ice cream!’ Finally Ginny quit and offered for me to go inside the ice cream shop first. I agreed and walked in.

“SURPRISE!”

I stood there, motionless and then there came Mrs. Weasley. “Oh Harry! Since we didn’t do anything for your birthday we decided to throw you a back to school party!”

What? Mrs. Weasley’s telling me she didn’t do anything for my birthday but we did have a cake and everything. That’s what the rest of her children get, so what’s so special about me? I looked over at Ron and he obviously had no idea what was going on either. Hermione and Ginny were already sitting down and chatting vigorously while glancing my way every once in a while.

“Hey mate!” I turned and saw Fred and George dressed extremely nice in a purple dragon skin suit. “Figured we’d dress up for your par-tay!” They sang in unison. I couldn’t help but ask why I was having a party and they laughed and said about the same thing Mrs. Weasley did so I gave up and went to talk to Lupin who had an extremely large shaggy black dog with him.

“Hi Professor, how have you been?” I asked.

“Don’t call me professor, that was two years ago! But anyways, I’ve been fine and so has Snuffles here,” Lupin replied smiling. I laughed and bent down to talk to Snuffles.

“So Sirius, how have you been?” I asked looking straight into the dog’s eyes.

“Fine, follow me,” Snuffles whispered and led me to a back room. It was dark and dingy, especially after I shut the door. If someone did walk in, they couldn’t see anything. Snuffles transformed while I turned away because I learned last year that it was a gruesome process.

Lumos. That’s better. So how have you been Harry?” Sirius asked as I turned around.

“I’ve been great!” I said cheerfully, thinking back to this morning in Ginny’s room.

“That’s great. I came up here just for this party; I was down south in Florida. The people down there are nice, they leave scraps out for me all the time,” Sirius sighed.

Something was wrong, usually when he gets the chance to see me he’s jumping up and down or at least smiles. I was afraid to ask what was wrong, but I didn’t have to.

“Look, something’s happened,” he took a deep breath and continued, “Someone saw me transform and just so happen, he was a wizard. He reported what he saw to the American wizard president and now there are wanted ads with both a description of me and of me as Snuffles.” Sirius paused again to see what I’d say, but I just stood there, flabbergasted (A/N: I’ve always wanted to use that word!). Then he continued once again, “So there’s a possibility the president will tell Fudge and then I’ll never be able to be outside, at all. Unless I move to China or something…” He sank to his knees and I walked over to him and patted him on the back. Then I bent down and gave him a hug, hoping it would make him feel better.

After what seemed like hours, he stood up and transformed while I looked away. Taking a deep breath and putting on the happiest face I could muster, we walked outside to join the party. I felt like I didn’t belong here with everyone dancing and having fun. I just sat in the corner all by myself thinking. Couldn’t Sirius wait until after the party to tell me? What if I never get to see him again? What am I going…

“Harry, would you care to dance with me?”

I looked up and saw Ginny with the brightest smile on her face. I better not ruin her last night before school, I thought. I stood up and took her hand, this time she didn’t move it out of my reach. We walked over to the dance floor, and began to dance. She was smiling and laughing, not taking notice of my sadness.

“Time for cake!” yelled Mrs. Weasley, “Harry’s first!” I walked over to the table where she was standing. “Which piece?” Mrs. Weasley asked. I looked at the cake and picked the piece that said ‘Harry’ on it and walked over to my corner.

“Hey Harry, I brought you something to drink!” said Lupin who was rushing over to see me. He conjured up a chair and sat down after handing me the drink he brought.

“Look I have to talk to you about what Snuffles said to you earlier,” he said as he looked around to see if anyone was listening. “Look he’s going to stay at his house for a while and soon he’ll stay with me,” Lupin paused to see if it affected my mood but since it didn’t he added, “He’ll be fine, nobody would ever be able to find him-- Drink up, it’ll make you feel a little better.” I nodded and drank the butterbeer in one gulp. Afterwards he walked off to talk to some other people.

“Hey would you like to dance again?” I looked up from my uneaten cake and saw a blurred red shape that kind of resembled a lion. Well Gryffindor is a lion, I thought, so I guess it would be ok. I nodded and stood up, almost falling out of my chair. Thankfully, whoever asked me to dance caught me and led me over to the dance floor. Every time I heard ‘Are you okay, Harry?’ from various blurred shapes I’d laugh and ask ‘Who’s Harry?’ The night seemed to pass extremely fast and before I knew it, I was asleep at the Burrow.

Chapter 3: The First Fight by softballrulz6
“Wake up!”

“My head!” I grunted as I grabbed my head, “It hurts so bad!”

“Well you probably have a hangover, Harry!” snapped whoever was standing at the door. I rolled over to see who it was but I closed my eyes as soon as I saw the light coming from the doorway.

“Who are you?” I shouted. I heard footsteps coming towards me and then a “SMACK- “What was that for? And who are you?” I whined as rubbed my face where they slapped me.

“Harry, it’s me, can’t you tell?” shouted a girl’s voice.

“Ginny?”

“Yeah me! What the heck did you drink last night?” Ginny shouted even louder.

“All I drank was the butterbeer Lupin gave me!” I shouted back.

“BULL!”

“Bull? I swear that’s all I had! Please stop yelling at me!” I whined as I grabbed my pillow and held it against my ears. Ginny grabbed my pillow and chunked it across the room.

“You want me to stop yelling? You need some punishment for what you did last night!” Ginny screamed even louder, finally collapsing on my bed as she started to cry. “Our relationship was supposed to be a secret! Why did you have to do that?” Hearing her cry like a little kid crushed me and caused me to finally open my eyes. The pain from my hangover suddenly ceased but it was instantly put into my heart. I grasped my chest but seeing her crying because of something I did made me reach out and begin to brush my hands through her hair, hoping it would make her feel better.

“Don’t you dare touch me! After what you did last night, WE ARE THROUGH!” She half screamed, half cried as she grabbed my hands and threw them back at me, making me bump my head against the headboard and making the pain return to my head. I looked at her in disbelief. What did I do? All I remember is dancing and eating cake!

“Don’t look at me like you didn’t do anything! You know what you did and because of it, we’re THROUGH!” She shouted as she jumped up and ran downstairs.

I stared at where she disappeared hoping she would come back and explain what she was talking about. I laid back down and tried to remember what all happened last night. All that came to mind was saying hi to everyone and then… Sirius… The memories came flooding back of what had happened to him in the U.S. What is he going to do? I mean look at him, he was already sad for having to stay inside a little bit and now he can’t go out at all!

“Good morning, Harry.”

I figured it was Ginny again, and her mother made her come up here and apologize since she probably heard what was said earlier. “Good morning. Look about this morning; I’m sorry. But I really don’t know what I did last night and so would you please forgive me?” I continued to look at the covers on my bed and then I felt someone sit on the end of the bed.

“I forgive you because you didn’t know and you couldn’t control it either. Lupin told me everything,” she said in a very motherly apologetic tone. For the first time, I looked up and my jaw dropped. It was Mrs. Weasley. “I still sound like a young girl, don’t I?” she laughed, “But Lupin did tell me that he gave you some firewhiskey to help you feel a little bit better and maybe forget what Sirius had told you. What he didn’t expect was that you would get that drunk. I mean you were drunk almost instantly and then you did some things that I came up here to tell you about.” After saying this, she sighed as if she would be happy not to tell me.

“Um… Is it bad?” I asked. She nodded. “Is it real bad?” I questioned hoping that she would shake her head and say ‘it’ll be okay’ but that wasn’t the case.

She sighed again before continuing, “Well it really upset Ginny, what you did was bad. Well it was bad to do in front of a whole bunch of people, anyway,” she paused once more and my heart began to pound. “Well it started out with just you two dancing and then you looked funny and you two began to dance closer and wilder. People began to ask you, ‘What’s wrong Harry?’ And you’d just say ‘Who’s Harry?’ After some very wild dancing, you and Ginny were snogging in the corner. Very wildly, must I admit. Finally I made you two separate,” she finally quit and looked me in the eye.

It felt like my stomach had just fell out and I was about to cry. I have never even given Ginny a kiss on the cheek in front of anyone before, let alone make out with her in front of about fifty or more people! ‘I’m sorry,’ was all I could muster at the moment and I thought she would get up and leave but instead she added more things to list of my devious acts.

“Harry I hate to tell you this but, you also did something else, too. Luckily we stopped you before something really serious could happen,” she took a deep breath to prepare herself for what she was going to say and continued, “You snuck and found Ginny and began to dance, again. Dirtily, might I add. This time instead of just making out with her, you had taken off her shirt and was… kissing her chest.” She took another deep breath and continued, “You had her pants halfway off before Lupin stopped you.”

We sat in silence for what seemed like forever and then I choked, “Where were we?”

“You two were on the dance floor, I just think that everyone was in shock and didn’t react or something because normally Professor McGonagall wouldn’t watch someone do that,” Mrs. Weasley sighed. Professor McGonagall! She saw that?

Mrs. Weasley let me sit and let it all sink in before she said it was almost time to go to the King’s Cross. After she left the room I got up and went to the bathroom, put on some muggle clothes, and packed my trunk. I left it in Ron’s room because Fred and George volunteered to levitate it to the car since they are now of age. I walked downstairs and saw everyone sitting at the table. Everyone except Ginny looked up. Hermione and Ron muttered ‘good morning’ unexcitedly so I assumed they heard the shouting match this morning. I walked over and sat next to Mr. Weasley who half-smiled and continued to read the Daily Prophet.

“Time to go everyone!” ordered Mrs. Weasley as she came in with Ginny’s things floating behind her. Everyone stood simultaneously and walked to the car. Once again, there was an engorgement charm on it so everyone and their things could fit. I hopped in the car and found that Ginny was sitting up front with her parents. On the way, no one said anything and the radio was broken so it seemed like forever before we arrived at the King’s Cross.

Finally we made it to the barrier, ten minutes before the train was suppose to leave. After everyone made it through the barrier, Mrs. Weasley gave everyone a hug and kiss wishing everyone good luck.

“You all better go!” Mrs. Weasley said as she ushered all the red-haired kids on the train. “Harry, can I talk to you before you get on the train?” she asked. I nodded and followed her so we were by ourselves. “Look, I haven’t told Ginny about Lupin giving you the firewhiskey, and I thought that it would be better if you told her,” she paused and looked to see if I was paying attention and then continued, “I also thought that it should be you to tell her about Snuffles.” I nodded and looked down at my shoes. Suddenly, Mrs. Weasley had me in a tight motherly hug. “Best of luck!”

Since Ron and Hermione had to go to the prefects’ compartment, I figured I’d try to find Ginny. I saw Luna and I figured she would know where Ginny was so I stopped to talk to her.

“Hey Luna!” I said, trying to sound cheery. She looked up and waved. “Have you seen Ginny?” I expected her to just say yeah and where she was, but instead she frowned.

“I heard what you did at a party last night. You know it really upset her and she was crying in the last compartment on the right,” she paused, readjusted her glasses and continued, “If you talk to her and she gets mad and tells you to leave, you’re welcome to sit with me.” She smiled and waved goodbye. I said thanks and headed to the last compartment at a sprint. I stopped just outside and put my ear to the door and sure enough, I heard someone crying inside. I knocked and walked in.

“Ginny! Dean!” I shouted in surprise. Ginny was sitting on Dean’s lap, not even daring to look up. The two of them readjusted and Dean stood up and took me outside the compartment, shutting the door behind him.

“I think you should leave. What you did to her was wrong and I’m not going to let you get near her so you can sweet talk her into going out with you again!” Dean snapped as he opened the compartment door again and then slammed it in my face. I just stood there in shock. She just forgot about me like that? She’s sitting in his lap! He just wants to have her all to himself! I mindlessly walked back to Luna’s compartment and sat across from her. Could this day get any worse?

“She was with Dean, wasn’t she?”

I looked up and saw Luna just sitting there with a triumphant look on her face. I nodded and looked back down at my feet. Now she’s going to rub it in my face, I wish she’d stop.

“You know what?” she didn’t pause for an answer before continuing, “She wanted you to walk in on her and Dean, to make you feel sorry for what you did.”

“Thanks for letting me know,” I replied. She just doesn’t know how sorry I am and how bad I need to talk to Ginny.

“Your welcome. Most boys are clueless about girl’s motives, so I thought I’d clue you in,” she said, trying to sound smart. I looked up and she was smiling a weird smile and then began to stare out the window. I looked back down at my feet and began to think about what exactly I was going to say when I got to talk to Ginny. Should I say sorry and then explain, or buy her something special and then explain? I asked myself, but soon my thoughts were interrupted. This time it was an excited Hermione, who had obviously blown over this morning’s shouting match.

“Guess what!? We get our own prefects bathroom!” she squealed as she jumped up and down, “and we get to boss people around!” Finally she collapsed beside Luna and sighed, thinking it was the happiest day of her life. Ron walked in and said the usual ‘hey’ and sat down beside me.

“That was the most boring meeting I’ve ever set foot in!” he said as he pulled out some sandwiches he brought from home.

“NO it was not! It was the most exciting!” Hermione snapped. The two of them argued till Hogsmede came into view. There was an ‘oh my gosh’ from Hermione as she ran out the door with her robes in hand. Luna soon walked out with her things leaving Ron and me. I had to tell him about Sirius and the firewhiskey, and what I just saw with Ginny and Dean. We were changing when Ron kind of casually asked if I had fun last night.

“Yeah, I guess. I don’t remember much…” I bit my lip and continued, “There’s something that I have to tell you.”

“If it’s the fact that you were drunk, I already know,” Ron replied almost instantly.

“No, it’s not that. Sirius told me something really important,” I paused and Ron looked at me curiously, “He told me that a wizard saw him transform while he was in Florida. They had told the President and if the President decides to tell Fudge, then he can’t leave his house at all…” I quit and sat down with my pants halfway on. Ron was just standing there, looking at me.

“So that’s why you got drunk?” he asked, thinking he had it all figured out.

“No. I thought I was drinking butterbeer. See, Lupin gave me some firewhiskey, thinking that it would let me forget what Sirius said. Instead, I totally forgot everything, and I didn’t have any idea what happened last night till your mum filled me in this morning.” I sighed and brushed my hands through my hair. Ron finally sat down and said we were in deep doo-doo. We sat there until we heard people rushing through the train. We jumped up and I pulled up my pants and we melted into the crowd. We heard Hagrid in the background calling for the first years as we ambled on to the horseless carriages.

We sat with Neville on the ride. Finally we got there and we melted into the crowd once again.

“Harry, Ron!”

We wheeled around and saw Lupin. Why is he here at Hogwarts? Our expressions must have asked this questions for us because Lupin laughed and said, “I’m a substitute teacher until Dumbledore finds a permanent Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher!” Then he got serious, “I need to talk to you two along with Hermione and Ginny. Have you seen them?” We shook our heads. “Oh well, I’ll just tell Dumbledore to send them before the sorting… You two follow me up to my office,” Lupin replied as he headed up the stairs. We rounded the last corner before we made it to Lupin’s office and we ran into Ginny and Dean.

“I’m sorry if I’m interrupting something here, but I need to talk to Miss Ginny in my office please,” Lupin ordered, almost cracking a smile. The two of them broke apart from their snogging session and blushed. Dean muttered ‘sorry’ and ran past us towards the Great Hall.

“Ginny Weasley! What the bloody hell were you thinking?” shouted Ron as he jumped and waved his arms in her face.

“Settle down, you can resolve this after I talk to you all,” Lupin interrupted as he unlocked his office door. “Go in and have a seat, Hermione should be up here any minute.” We all obeyed and sat down, Ginny sat next to Ron. While we were waiting Ron continued to get on to Ginny about snogging Dean. I didn’t listen. I didn’t care about Ginny snogging Dean. Actually I didn’t listen because it bothered me too much.

“Ok everyone, there is some truth needing to be told,” Lupin started. I looked around and saw Hermione sitting next to me. I guess I didn’t see her walk in… “Ok it’s about last night. If Harry hasn’t told you the story yet, I’m going to fill you in,” Lupin stopped abruptly and looked at Ginny, who popped a bubble. She was in the middle of blowing another one when Lupin said ‘excuse me.’

“What? I don’t need to hear Harry’s story. He got drunk last night and then he did what he did. It’s all his fault, no one made him drink. So as you might guess, I broke up with him and I’m now going out with Dean,” Ginny snapped as she went back to popping her gum.

“I think that you’re the one who needs to hear this the most, so stop blowing bubbles and listen or I’m taking points from Gryffindor,” Lupin said in a calm fatherly tone. Ginny quit with an unhappy look on her face. “ As you all know, Sirius was present at the party last night,” he paused and we nodded, “He told Harry some disturbing news. He was vacationing in Florida when someone saw him transform. Just so happen, this man was a wizard.”

“What? A wizard saw Sirius transform? I bet that was gross!” Hermione shrieked as she thought back to last year.

Lupin nodded and continued, “This man reported it to the American Wizard President so if they let Cornelius know, then Sirius has to stay inside even more than he does now. No need to worry about him feeling too cramped, I’m working on a whole floor of my house just for him to live in. Once I finish it, he’ll stay with me until it blows over.” Lupin let it all sink in before he added, “I’m having house elves bring up some food since you all are missing the feast.”

“House elves? You they are mistreated and abused?” Hermione shrieked at the mention of house elves. Ron muttered ‘not again’ and Hermione shrieked even louder at that. “NOT AGAIN? You know that no matter how many times I tell people about how they’re mistreated, they just blow it over! Maybe one day someone will notice my efforts to make house elves free!”

“I notice Miss Granger!” squealed Dobby who had been standing there for Hermione’s whole speech. “They asked if one of us could take food to Harry Potter and his friends so I agreed at once!” Dobby walked over and sat the food on Lupin’s desk. “I hope you enjoy your meal! Please stop by the kitchens any time you please Mister Harry Potter sir,” Dobby said as he turned and walked out.

“Well I’ll leave you four here to eat, while I go get ready for the lesson tomorrow,” Lupin said cheerily as he also got up and walked out the door. We stuffed our faces while the plate magically refilled every time we cleared it.

“Ron and I have to escort the Gryffindor first years to the common room so we have to go, see you two later!” Hermione squealed as she jumped up and ran out the door. Ron just sat there until she came back in and told him to hurry up. He got up and waved goodbye before heading to his doom and Hermione’s dream. I waved and just looked at the floor and drank some pumpkin juice. Maybe Ginny won’t yell at me tonight.

“Harry”

I looked towards Ginny, she was crying again but she was silent. I tried to choke out ‘what?’ but it ended up being “err?” Ginny actually giggled when I said that, but she still had tears pouring down her face.

“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have accused of just getting drunk for fun,” she said as she wiped tears off her face. I thought about this for a second, I didn’t know what to say. I figured she wouldn’t forgive me so soon.

“Well I didn’t get drunk on purpose. Actually I didn’t even know that I drank some firewhiskey,” I finally replied stupidly. I laughed because I thought it was stupid not to know you drank something totally different from the usual butterbeer.

“What? How could you not know?” hissed Ginny. Her eyes narrowed, but her face still glistened from her fresh tears.

“Lupin gave it to me.”

“Stop blaming everything on him! Don’t you think that he would have said something to me about it if he did?” Ginny yelled as she stood up and bent over me, her tears dripping onto my face.

“But he did give it to me, he told me it would make me feel better,” I replied looking towards the ground because I was afraid of getting her tears in my eyes.

“I wish you would quit telling me lies!” Ginny cried as she bolted towards the door and turned towards me before she left and then she just ran out the door slamming it so I could remember it forever like all the mornings I had spent with her at the Burrow…
Chapter 4: The First Day of School by softballrulz6
Monday

“Wake up! It’s the first day of classes!” squealed Hermione. I rolled over and saw a bushy haired girl standing between Ron’s bed and mine. I looked at my watch and it said 7:30.

“What? Hermione, it’s 7:30!” I whined, hoping she would leave so I could get another hour’s worth of sleep.

“Ron and I have prefect duties!” snapped Hermione, obviously getting tired of my laziness.

“Nuh-uh! I haven’t heard anything about it!” said Ron. His eyes were still closed and drool was dripping from his mouth.

Hermione must have just looked at him for the first time and squealed, “Ron! Wipe your face!” He pulled his sleeve over his hand and wiped it across his face, just smearing his drool. “You are so disgusting!” Hermione hissed as she walked to the door, “I’ll be waiting for Ron down stairs.”

“See you at breakfast, Harry,” Ron halfway said as he walked out the door behind Hermione. I waved and walked back upstairs and grabbed my backpack and my invisibility cloak. I was walking down the stairs when I saw Ginny sitting by the empty fireplace.

“You know, they need to light a fire on mornings like this,” I joked, hoping it would make her look up, but she kept staring at the fireplace. I walked over to her and sat in the chair closest to her. “Good morning,” I stated hoping she would at least acknowledge my presence. She nodded her head in a hello like manner, which was a start. I should explain…

“Look about last night, I was telling the truth,” I was starting to feel desperate and was about to go on and on, but she actually looked up. I found her eyes this time and I repeated what I said last night, “Lupin did give it to me, he told me it would make me feel better.” Ginny’s face lightened and the corner of her mouth twitched. She opened her mouth and was about to tell me something but suddenly someone started shouting.

“GET AWAY FROM HER!” It was Dean. “What did I tell you on the train? Stay away from her!” he had run down the stairs and was now in my face. “All you do is hurt her! Can’t you just let her be?” he grabbed Ginny’s hand and led her out the common room door, but just before she walked out she looked in my direction. Making sure no one was looking, I put on my invisibility cloak and walked out behind them.
“I’ll make sure he doesn’t bother you anymore, ok?” Dean was saying to Ginny as he slipped his arm around her waist. She flinched but he didn’t seem to notice. “I said ‘ok?’” Dean repeated, but she still didn’t answer him. I caught up with them and was walking silently behind them so I could hear everything. “Gin, what’s wrong?” this time he moved his hand from her waist to her butt and gently squeezed it. She flinched again, but he didn’t notice. He continued to walk with his hand clamped onto her butt until he reached an unused classroom. “Let’s go in, I’ll make you feel better,” Dean said as he pulled her inside. I slipped inside behind them just before he closed the door.

He led her over to the teacher’s unused desk and set her on it as he began to kiss her. She pulled away and said ‘stop’ but he just kept going. He forced her to lie down as he crawled on top of her. Ginny didn’t fight back, but didn’t she let him on, she just laid there helplessly. He took off her cloak, flung it across the room, and began to unbutton the blouse she had on. Finally she realized what he was doing, and she pushed him, but she just collapsed under his weight. He paused, “C’mon, I know you want to.” He didn’t wait for an answer but began to kiss her neck and work his way down toward her chest.

I need to stop him! She doesn’t want to do it! I took out my wand and tried to think of a spell to use… I whispered, “Wingardium Leviosa Dean.” He lifted up and he cursed and reached for Ginny’s almost naked body, but he was too high in the air. I jabbed my wand towards the wall behind him and he flew that direction, hitting the wall and falling to the floor. He wasn’t moving, but he was ok so I took off my invisibility cloak and rushed over to Ginny.

“Are you alright?” I asked. She was sitting on the edge of the desk, not bothering to button her blouse. She stared at me with wonder then nodded. I then went over to the corner of the classroom and picked up her cloak, bringing it back to her. When I returned it to her, she had buttoned her blouse and she just sat the cloak next to her.

“Thank you so much,” she whispered, “I’m so sorry I blamed you for what happened.” She wrapped her arms around my neck, and pulled me into a kiss. This is what I had wanted, to be with Ginny again, but for some reason it didn’t feel right. I pulled away and she just sighed and stood up, inches from me. I wanted to put my arm around her and kiss her until I couldn’t anymore, but it just wasn’t right. She turned away and put her cloak back on, before walking over to Dean.

“I think we might need to take him to the hospital wing,” she sighed as she kicked him in the shin. I nodded when she looked in my direction, but then she said, “On second thought, let’s just leave him. He deserves it.” She turned to me and laughed before we headed to the Great Hall together.

Heads turned our direction when we walked in. We didn’t pay any attention; we just walked over and sat down with Ron and Hermione. I began to pile some toast on my plate, when I looked up. Both Ron and Hermione were staring at us in disbelief.

“Have you never seen me Ron, or are you just stupid,” snapped Ginny as she got some oatmeal from a bowl. Ron just scowled and looked at his food.

“What happened? I thought you two were mad at each other!” Hermione said, still staring at us.

“No, it was just a misunderstanding. No biggy,” Ginny smiled and continued to eat. I laughed for the first time in a few days. I felt kind of nervous, being with Ginny for the first time in public. Or the first time I was sober in public with her. Soon we finished eating and Professor McGonagall handed out our schedules. I had History of Magic, double Potions, Divination, and double Defense Against the Dark Arts.

“Well this ruins my day,” I said offhandedly.

“Well it’ll be alright,” Ginny said as she reached for my hand. It was weird, showing affection in front of other people, even if it was just Ron and Hermione. I looked over to the two of them, they were sitting kind of close, and Ron seemed happy even though he had the same schedule as me.

“Well we better be going,” Hermione said as she stood up, followed by Ron. “You’re walking Ginny to class, right?” she asked looking at me. I nodded and the two of them left. Ginny and I sat there for a few more minutes, just holding hands and enjoying our time alone.

“Well we better go,” sighed Ginny, “I have Defense Against the Dark Arts first.” I stood up and released her hand, so no one else could see, but she reached for it again. We walked hand in hand out of the Great Hall. Everyone seemed to stop eating and look our direction but as soon as we walked out, there was a tremendous amount of whispering. We headed up stairs towards DADA, but Ginny stopped right before we got there. She turned towards me and took my other hand in hers. She backed up and went behind a curtain that had a room behind it.

“So what are you doing after dinner tonight?” Ginny asked as she pulled me closer.

“I believe I was going to ask a certain someone if she would like to have a date,” I said as I wrapped my arms around her waist.

“Oh really? Is she pretty?” Ginny asked as she laughed a little bit and wrapped her arms around my neck.

“Actually, she’s quite beautiful. I think she’s smart too,” I teased.

“Oh she is. I guess I’m not a candidate,” Ginny sighed.

“I thought you were the perfect candidate. I also thought it’d be cool to meet you by the common room around eight,” I smiled.

“Ok then I guess it’s a date!” laughed Ginny.

I walked into History of Magic right before the bell rang. I went and sat down in my usual seat. I looked over and Hermione and Ron were missing. Where could those to be? They left before I did!

“Good morning everyone!” said Professor Binns. This was the one thing he said once a year that wasn’t boring. I actually jumped because I wasn’t use to it. “Ok class, take out your quill and paper.” I reached in my bag and grabbed my things and set it on my desk. “Today we’re going to talk about Goblin wars. We’re starting back in 1942,” Binns said. I wrote ‘Goblin wars’ at the top of my page and paid attention to what he was saying. I was writing something about a war in 1960 when someone opened the classroom door.

“I’m sorry Professor, but Professor Dumbledore had to talk to me and Ron about prefect duties,” muttered Hermione as she ran to her seat beside me and sat down, followed by Ron. Professor Binns just looked at the two of them in disgust. No one has ever interrupted his class besides three years ago. Finally he just went on about Goblin wars.

“You’re taking notes?” whispered Hermione as she labeled her paper smiling. I nodded and wrote down some more things on wars. Finally class was over when he got to 1991.

“Man, I never thought he’d quit talking,” muttered Ron as he was walking sleepily out of Binns class.

“Not like you were listening,” snapped Hermione, “Harry, on the other hand took notes and paid attention so he can help you with your homework tonight instead of me.”

“I like you helping me with my homework, I know it’s right when you do it,” whined Ron. Hermione just rolled her eyes and kept walking.

The rest of the day continued like that, me taking notes and paying attention. Snape actually didn’t snap at me so much today during Potions because I was behaving so well. Maybe I should try being a good student all the time! Even though I stayed awake all through my classes, the day passed quickly. I actually did all my homework before Ginny found me in the library.

A/N: Sorry for the wait. Basketball started up and homecoming was last week, so I was kind of busy... Next chapter should come sooner! It's almost done anyways!
Chapter 5: The Potion by softballrulz6
“Harry?”

“Ginevra!” I jumped up as soon as I saw her and gave her big hug. “How was your day at school?”

“Umm… It was good, I guess. Why are you in the library?” Ginny asked as she backed away from me.

“I was finishing up my homework. I figured that I’d do it now instead of wait till after our date tonight,” I smiled and walked towards her. I reached for her hand but she moved it away. “What’s wrong Ginevra?” I asked.

“Why are you calling me Ginevra? My mom only calls me that when she’s mad,” Ginny said as she backed away even farther.

“Nothing is wrong with me. I just wanted to do my homework for a change,” I looked at her curiously. She looked frightened, like she had never seen me before. What’s wrong with her? I call he Ginevra all the time, it’s more proper than Ginny. Also Ginny sounds like a little girl’s name, and Ginevra is more mature sounding.

“About that date, I can’t make it,” Ginny said as she backed away even more. By this time she was almost to the door.

“Well that’s quite alright, how about tomorrow night?” I asked.

“Maybe. I’ll see you later. Bye,” she said quickly as she rushed out the door.

“That was strange…” I muttered as she closed the door behind her. What could she be doing, that she couldn’t come tonight? She was just fine this morning… I walked back over to the library table and finished my homework. I got up and left, but instead of going to the common room to meet Ron and Hermione, I just went to the Great Hall to eat. It was a waste of energy to walk back up to Gryffindor tower and walk all the way back down to the Great Hall. I sat down where I usually sit, all by myself.

“Potter has no friends!” I heard someone tease from behind me. I chose to ignore it since it was stupid to get mad over such immature comments like that. They repeated the phrase a lot but I remained silent and calm. Finally whomever it was hit me across the top of my head. I turned around, but I remained calm.

“Didn’t you hear me? I said ‘Potter has no friends!’” Draco shouted as he inched closer to my face. I remained calm and answered him.

“Yes, I heard you, Draco. It’s just silly to get upset over such things as a phrase someone chooses to yell. I’m waiting for Ronald and Hermione to come down from the common room. I thought it was a waste to walk up to the tower and back down when I was already at the library,” I responded, clearly thinking he would understand and go and sit down. Instead he just stared at me for a second and busted out laughing, along with the rest of the Great Hall.

You were at the library?” laughed Malfoy as he walked over to the Slytherin table. Doesn’t he understand? I actually want to get as many O.W.L.S. as I can. How many you get affects the jobs you can get and everything. It’s very important. Maybe my aunt and uncle will proud of me if I get all I can…

“We were waiting for you in the common room so we decided to go and see if you were still in the library, but you weren’t. Why didn’t you come and get us or something before you came down here?” asked Hermione as she sat down across from me.

“I thought that it was a waste of energy to walk up to the Gryffindor tower and walk back down to the Great Hall if I was already in the library,” I said as I said earlier to Draco. She just raised an eyebrow and moved food onto her plate. I looked over to Ron and he was already stuffing his face. “Ronald, you have potatoes on your cheek. Do you mind wiping them off before you continue your meal?” I asked politely.

“What?” Ron asked as he looked up at me with a weird expression on his face. I repeated what I said and he still just stared at me. He is such an ignorant fool, I thought.

“You called him Ronald. What’s wrong with you today? First, you call me Ginevra and now your calling him Ronald,” Ginny asked as she walked over and sat down beside me.

“I always call you Ginevra, and him Ronald,” I stated as I looked at her questionably. She just glanced in my direction and rolled her eyes.

“Oh my gosh! I’m so sorry Harry!” gasped Hermione as she covered her mouth.

“It’s not your fault that I call these two Ginevra and Ronald, no need to be sorry,” I responded, but she still sat there with her hands over her mouth. What is bothering her?

“ ‘Mione, what’s up?” Ronald asked through a mouth full of steak.

“I have to go to the library. I’ll meet you in the common room when I get done with”my homework, yeah my homework,” Hermione said as she stood up and ran out the Great Hall. We just stared after her, wondering what she was up to. She had to of already finished her homework, I already have and she always finishes before I do. Well, I have been very intellectual today, just look at how much I’ve learned! I never knew a thing about Goblin wars, and look how interesting they are!

We ate the rest of our meal in silence. Or almost silence, since Ronald chews so loudly. Afterwards, we walked back up to Gryffindor tower. We sat in the common room in complete silence until eight, when Hermione came trudging in, carrying a corked bottle and an extremely large book. She walked over and set it down on the coffee table, by the fire. People were standing close, but they didn’t seem to take notice to Hermione’s quickness.

“What’s going on?” Ronald asked as he reached for the corked bottle, but Hermione slapped his hand away and said ‘don’t touch anything.’ We all sat back and didn’t dare say a word, not like there was anything to say in the first place. Hermione took a deep breath and launched into an explanation of her actions.

“Harry, this morning, you really got on my nerves with your carelessness about school,” she paused, took a breath, and continued, “I knew this potion, that made you concentrate and think more”smart. It’s kind of like medicine for Muggle kids who have ADD. Sort of. Anyways, I figured I’d give you a little bit to make you realize that you need to get ready for your OWLS.”

“So you give me a little, and that’s why everyone thinks I’m acting strange,” I finished for her.

“Yeah… Sort of… See, I accidentally poured a little too much. That’s why you’re calling everyone by their proper name. I was only going to pour enough to make you focus in class, but you were coming and I didn’t have much time so I just dumped it all in there…” She trailed off and avoided my eyes. I decided not to say anything since she probably feels bad already about so I just sat there, letting it all sink in.

“You gave him ALL of it?” Ginny squealed from beside me. Hermione just nodded and Ginny looked helpless and she just looked at me with her eyes filled with sorrow, as if I’d never be the same again.

“Don’t worry Ginevra, everything will be alright. There are antidotes to most potions and I don’t think this one is strong enough, to alter me forever,” I said as I patted her on the back. She had a trace of hope in her eyes, but Hermione started wailing as she melted to her knees beside the coffee table. Immediately Ronald put his arm around her, trying to comfort her as if he’d done that a million times.

“I’m”so”sorry”Harry!” Hermione wailed. She buried her head in her hands and just leaned against Ron.

“There is a way to fix him, right?” Ginny asked from beside me as she pulled her knees to her chest and started to rock back and forth.

“It takes a whole year since I gave him the whole thing…” Hermione mumbled through her hands. I looked over to Ginny and she was trembling now. I scooted over on the couch and put my arms around her and tried to get her to stop shaking, but she was shaking worse.

“He’ll never be the same!” cried Ginny as she buried her face into my chest.

“It’ll be ok Ginevra. Hermione said it would only take a year,” I said trying to comfort her. She needs to calm down; her life is unchanged by this. My life is completely altered but there is still nothing to worry about.

“That’s not it…” cried Hermione.

“What?” Ginny shrieked. She threw my arms away from her and stomped over in front of Hermione. “That’s not it? What were you thinking? You know the consequences of like all the potions in the world, and you didn’t think about what would happen if you ‘accidentally’ poured the whole potion in his drink?” Ginny took a deep breath and continued her screaming before Hermione could say a word, “You could have took the drink away since you poured all of it in there! Didn’t you know that just a drop is enough? I knew that and I’m not a brain like YOU!” Ginny finally stopped, but Ron stood up and yelled right back at her.

“GINNY! IT WAS A MISTAKE! EVERYONE MAKES MISTAKES!” screamed Ron who was just inches away from Ginny. Ginny just stood there, shocked. Ron had gotten on to her before, but not like that. He was yelling in Hermione’s defense, instead of his own sister’s. It was my turn to end this.

“Ginevra,” I began.

“Don’t call me Ginevra!” screamed Ginny with the last bit of her energy.

“Ok, Giner”I mean Ginny. Let’s just sit down and hear what Hermione has to say, ok? If we let her finish completely, then everything should make more sense,” I paused to see how she reacted. She reluctantly nodded. “Also Ronald, it’s ok for Ginny to get mad. I am her boyfriend and all. If someone had done this to you, I believe Hermione would be mad too.”

Ron just nodded and sat down next to Hermione again. He wrapped his arm around her, and whispered in her ear. Hermione nodded and began to talk, more clearly this time. “The thing is, if someone suspects that Harry has been altered magically, he could be in deep trouble. It could cause him to not be able to take his OWLS. There is no magic involved during the tests and if my calculations are correct, he won’t be back to normal until 2 weeks after the OWLS,” Hermione paused and took a deep breath. “I’m afraid that if he stays that way for a year, then he might stay that way forever…”

From beside me, I heard a gasp and then crying. I scooted over next to her and wrapped my arms around her. She just leaned into me and cried more and more. It stayed like this for hours, finally the fire went out and it got chilly.

“I’m cold…” muttered Ginny. She had finally stopped crying, but she was shivering.

“Stay right here, I’ll be right back,” I whispered. She nodded and sat up so I could move. I went up to the dormitory and brought down a blanket that was Gryffindor colors and had little snitches all over it. I sat down beside her and we snuggled together and covered ourselves with the blanket.

“Thank you, Harry,” she whispered as she lay against my chest.

“Think nothing of it, Ginny,” I whispered back. I gently brushed my hands through her hair until she had fallen asleep, and I soon followed.
Chapter 6: Perfect by softballrulz6
Over the next month, we acted as if nothing happened to me. I started to call everyone by the name that I usually did. I still paid attention in class and took notes everyday, but the teachers didn’t seem to notice the difference. Actually all the fifth years were taking notes in almost every class, well except for Binns’ class. Ron and Hermione started to act like a couple now, instead of trying to hide it; Lavender and Parvati had a field day with that one. Everything seemed perfect once again, but Quidditch starts today and Angelina is the captain.

Saturday 2:00 (Quidditch practice)

After dressing, we headed outside to the field. There was Fred, George, Angelina, Katie and Alicia from last year. Also Ron, Ginny, and two other Gryffindors were there for Keeper tryouts.

“Ok everyone, let’s get started,” Angelina started, “We’re in need of a new keeper so I believe I need to take names.” She pulled out some paper and clipboard. “Please state your names and what year you’re in please.”

“Geoffrey Hooper, third.” Stated one of the two Gryffindors I didn’t know.

“Ron Weasley, fifth,” Ron said, almost jumping up and down with excitement.

“Ginny Weasley, fourth,” Ginny said with confidence.

“What about you? You want to try out, right?” Angelina snapped at the little girl standing behind everyone else.

“Yes… My name is Kristin…” the little girl said slowly, then with more energy, “Kristin Smith, second year.”

“Ok then I want you four to fly around the stadium once, please.” Angelina commanded. Everyone nodded and took off, except for Kristin. Angelina didn’t say anything, thinking she was afraid to fly, but when the others made it a quarter of the way around the stadium, she took off. Her dark brown hair was flying behind her, and she passed everyone by the time they got halfway through. She landed with ease and waited for the others to land.

“Ok, that was impressive everyone,” Angelina said, trying to hide her pleasure. “Now I want Ron to start out at the hoops while the rest of us try to score on him.” Ron nodded and took off towards the three hoops closest to him. We all followed Angelina out in front of Ron.

“We’re going to start out far away and work our way towards you,” Angelina called. Ron nodded and geared himself to block the balls. Angelina chunked a ball towards the left hoop and Ron glided that way and caught it. Next Fred threw one right towards him, Ron caught it but almost fumbled it. This continued until we were about three yards away from the goal posts. Katie chunked one to the right hoop, but Ron when towards the left one. After his mistake Angelina called Ginny up to the hoops.

“Let’s go Ginny!” I called as I threw one softly to the left hoop. She easily caught it.

“Don’t be so easy on me, Harry!” Ginny called as she chunked the ball back to me. I laughed as George threw the next one, and she easily caught it. Overall she did well, only missing two up close. Next was Geoffrey. He did well, but missed four because he couldn’t hold on to the ball. He complained every two seconds about someone’s throw or just something stupid. Then it was Kristin. We chunked balls at her for the longest time; she never missed one. Each catch was perfect and she made it look easy.

“Take that,” Katie screamed as she hauled one towards the right hoop, but it made a sudden turn and went left. Kristin caught it, no problem.

“Ok everyone that’s enough for now,” Angelina said as she turned and flew to the ground. “That was a good practice, everybody,” She turned to the four newcomers, “I narrowed it down to two of you. I would like Ginny and Kristin to come to practice next Saturday. Then I’ll choose which one gets to be the Keeper.”

After we changed, I went with Fred and George to the kitchens to get something to eat. I brought up and extra butterbeer to Ginny.

“I hate her,” was all Ginny said when I handed her drink to her.

“Who?” I asked. Ginny hating someone was new to me, or hating someone besides Malfoy.

“That Kristin girl.”

“Why? She did pretty well flying today.”

“Exactly. If it wasn’t for her, I would have blown Ron and that other kid away,” Ginny said as she crossed her arms. We were sitting on the couch in the common room across from Ron and Hermione who were having a snog fest.

“What?” demanded Ron as he let go of Hermione.

“I said I would have blown you away if it wasn’t for that Kristin girl,” snapped Ginny.

“Would not! Angelina just thought there needed to be more girls on the team, that’s all,” Ron argued.

“Sure she did. Maybe it’s just because I’m better than you,” Ginny snapped. This went on for what seemed like forever. Finally Hermione suggested we get something to eat, so we walked to the Great Hall.

“Potter’s place is getting taken by a girl!”

What? Who is taking my place, in what? Everyone turned and stared. Malfoy got up and walked over in front of me, with Crabbe and Goyle by his side.

“Didn’t you hear me, Potter?” Malfoy asked. I was about to say something, but he continued. “I said, ‘Potter’s place is getting taken by a girl!’”

“Who is taking my place, and what place are they taking?” I asked. Malfoy just smirked and enjoyed knowing something I didn’t.

“The word that’s going around is that some second year is taking your place as seeker.”

“What? Who?”

“Some Kristin girl.”

“She tried out for Keeper today.”

“But she left as Seeker.”

“No, she did not!” I screamed. Everyone continued to stare, and Malfoy just laughed and walked away as Kristin walked my way. She must had have already taken her shower, because her hair was down and she had on nice clothes. Her sweater fit tightly around her, showing off her upper torso and her jeans seemed tight. She stopped right in front of me and swept her hair from her face, tucking it behind her ear. Her face was perfect, no flaws, no freckles, no anything. She smiled shyly and blushed a little bit because I was studying her.

“I’m sorry if I caused all this,” Kristin said, still smiling. “I think you did good at practice today, but I can’t wait till next Saturday. I’m kind of nervous about it.”

“I’m sure you didn’t cause anything,” I said apologetically. “Thank you, you did well today too. Don’t worry about it, everything will be fine.”

“I’m sorry to interrupt, but I’m hungry and he’s my boyfriend so we’re going to go eat now,” snapped Ginny as she grabbed my arm and led me to the table. Kristin kept standing there until I looked her way. She smiled and waved before walking out the door.

“I wish she’d just fall over and die,” Ginny said as she turned to Hermione, expecting her to agree.

“I think she’s hot!” said Ron smiling, as he continued to look where Kristin had disappeared.

“Ugh! Ron!” shrieked Hermione as she slapped him on the arm.

“What? Oh sorry…” Ron mumbled blushing. He should be a blonde instead of a redhead.

Ginny was sitting beside me, silently eating her food. She was wearing on of her sweaters Mrs. Weasley made. It must have been a few years old because it was tight and Mrs. Weasley always made her sweaters gigantic. It was maroon and it emphasized her red hair, making her even more beautiful than before. She swept her hair from her face, and turned to face me. She smiled and took my hand in hers. She was mesmerizing; there was a sparkle in her eye that I only saw when she was with me. She was unfazed by guys that would tell her she’s pretty and that they were the only ones who really loved her. She was perfect for me, and that would never change.

Chapter 7: The Date by softballrulz6
During the past week I’ve seen Kristin almost everywhere I go. Maybe I just never noticed her before and I notice her now, that or she’s following me. Today Ginny and Kristin return to Quidditch practice and they’re going to fight it out to see who is going to be the Keeper. I’m dreading this, because if Ginny doesn’t make it then she’ll be ever madder than before. Also, tonight is going to be our first official date. We’re going to be by ourselves rather than with Ron and Hermione. I’m planning something really romantic and I want her to remember tonight’s date forever.

“Alright team, listen up!” shouted Angelina. “We’re all going to practice our regular positions today, to see which one of these girls will blend with us better,” she continued as she motioned towards Ginny and Kristin. “I’m going to release the snitch a few minutes before we begin and then I’ll release a bludger.”

“Why just one?” asked Fred from behind Kristin.

“Well I don’t feel like putting up two bludgers after practice, so just one,” Angelina snapped as she released the snitch. I watched it buzz around everyone’s head and then take off towards the Gryffindor fan section. Ron and Hermione come to watch along with a few other Gryffindors. My adrenaline was pumping, just like before a game. My heart seemed to pound in my ear, causing me not to hear what Angelina was saying. I left the ground along with everyone else. Kristin flew to one end, and Ginny to the other. Both of them looked prepared. The plan was to go from one end to the other, passing the quaffle back and forth while Fred and George kept the bludger from hitting anyone and I looked for the snitch.

I flew high above anyone else and just watched instead of looking for the snitch; I figured I could find it later. First everyone went in Ginny’s direction, throwing the ball to the right hoop. Ginny easily caught it and tossed it to Alicia. The three chasers weaved to the other end where they threw to the left hoop. Kristin caught it and tossed it to Katie. This went on for a little while until Kristin started to do fancy stuff.

First when they threw the quaffle to the right hoop, she caught and spun it on her finger before tossing it to Angelina. Ginny loved competition, so when she caught it, she spun it on her finger and rolled it across her arms before throwing it to Katie. Next Kristin caught it and pretended to drop it, before catching it with her feet. Ginny’s face was turning red, as she caught the next one, sat sideways on her broom and kicked it to Alicia. Each one pulled a stunt better than the last one each time until Angelina blew the whistle and motioned for everyone to land.

“Good job everyone. I expect to see more next practice. I’m still undecided about which one to be Keeper so just come back next Saturday,” Angelina started. I looked over and saw Ginny’s face wrinkle in disgust, she was suppose to come out on top. Actually both of them did about the same. “Whichever one I pick, the other is welcome to continue to practice, because next year we’ll need a few chasers.” After that we started to walk off, but Angelina called us back.

“Kristin and Ginny can leave, but I need to talk to last year’s players,” Angelina said. Kristin walked off and Ginny walked towards the stands to sit with Ron and Hermione. “Ok I need all of your opinions about which one should be Keeper.”

“Kristin,” Fred and George said in unison.

“Ginny,” I said. Katie and Alicia stayed silent.

“Ok I need an opinion that isn’t affected by how hot someone is and if they’re your girlfriend or not,” Angelina snapped.

“Well I think that they both performed well, but I think Kristin is a better flyer,” Katie said quietly. Angelina nodded before Alicia spoke.

“Kristin seems too confident. She thinks she’s superwoman. I’d prefer Ginny, she’s not cocky, but she’s competitive,” stated Alicia.

“Kristin may be cocky, but she’s a better flyer and has a better broom,” Fred reported.

“I agree with Alicia,” George said shortly. Fred shot a look at George through the corner of his eye. Now it was my turn.

“Ginny may be my girlfriend, but she’s more of a team player. I agree with what Alicia said, Kristin is too cocky. She was the one who started trying to showoff first, remember?” I said, hoping it would convince Angelina to choose Ginny if she hadn’t already.

“Ok. You all have good opinions, but I choose Ginny. That makes about forty-three percent of our team Weasleys,” Angelina stated. Fred’s jaw dropped and he was about to argue when Angelina interfered. “I’m the captain, so I made the final decision. Ginny won fair and square.” My heart jumped for joy and I wanted to run and tell Ginny, but Angelina said I had to promise not to tell.

That night was memorable, but at first it wasn’t memorable in the way I wanted it to be. I planned for us to have a light snack before walking outside by the lake, followed by a wonderful feast. Ginny and I met outside the common room. She was wearing a maroon skirt that flowed when she walked, like the wind was constantly blowing. She had on a gold sweater that fit her snugly and she carried a light jacket with her. I had decided to wear some kakis with a green sweater. She said I looked handsome, and I told her she was more beautiful than I could ever imagine. I took her by the hand and started to lead her to the Room of Requirement where we were going to have our snack, but before we turned the corner someone called our names from behind. I turned and it was Kristin.

“Hey Harry,” she said as she walked my way. She was wearing some of her tight blue jeans and a tight long-sleeve shirt that you could practically see through. She stopped when she was about a foot away and swept her hair from her face, tucking it behind her ear. “I know the team talked about who was going to be the Keeper, so I was wondering if you could come and talk to me about it. We could walk around the lake if you wanted to.”

Ginny and I were still holding hands, and here was Kristin asking if I wanted to walk around the lake with her. “I’m a little busy right now,” I said simply.

“Oh well that’s ok. Do you think we could talk later?” she asked.

“Not tonight,” I said, trying to shake her off, but she was persistent.

“Well how about tomorrow night?”

“I’ll have to get back to you on that, I’ve got to get going,” I said as I started to turn around but she put her hand on my shoulder.

“Tell me now if you can go with me tomorrow or not,” Kristin demanded.

“It all depends on if I finished all my homework, ok? I’ve got to get going so I’ll talk to you later about it, alright?” I said, not meaning to be so harsh.

“Fine. I’ll talk to you later,” Kristin said as tears welled up in her eyes and she ran back to the common room. I squeezed Ginny’s hand and walked to the Room of Requirement. Ginny was quiet all the way there, until we walked past the space three times and the door appeared.

“That girl shouldn’t try to hit on you when I’m standing right there. I informed her last week of how you’re my boyfriend and all. Maybe she just doesn’t understand,” Ginny said as we walked inside. She gasped. It was perfect. There were dim lamps around the room and a small table for two in the center of the room. Rose petals were scattered all over the floor and there were a few petals next to the candles on the table. Music was playing softly in the background, so I asked her if she wanted to dance. She agreed.

“This is so beautiful, Harry,” Ginny commented as we twirled in circles around the room.

“Just like you,” I said smiling. She giggled with embarrassment and continued to look around the room while I observed her as we danced. This continued until I glanced at my watch. It was getting close to sundown, so we needed to eat. I stopped and asked her to have a snack, by candlelight. I pulled her chair out for her then went and sat down opposite her. I glanced at the candles; wax had melted down the sides and off of the side of the candleholder, making little wax icicles. I took out my wand and mumbled the spell Hermione taught me, making the food appear on plates decorated with roses. There was an ‘ooh’ from Ginny before I picked up the simple sandwiches and began to eat.

Afterwards, Ginny placed her hand on the table as she drank her butterbeer. I reached across the table and covered her hand with mine.

“I have something for you,” I said as I handed her a maroon box across the table. She giggled and took it in her hand.

“Can I guess what it is?” she asked.

“Of course, but I won’t tell you if you guess right. You’ll just have to open it and see,” I said trying to get her to hurry so we won’t miss the next part of our date.

“Well alright, but I’m guessing twice,” Ginny giggled, “Let’s see… Is it a rose?” I didn’t say anything, just like I said I would. “Is it a bracelet?” She was closer but I still didn’t say anything, just smiled as she opened the box.

“It’s beautiful!” she shrieked as took the necklace from the box. She held it up to the candlelight, to see it more clearly. It was a silver heart embedded with seven tiny diamonds.

“Can you put it on for me?” Ginny asked, smiling wider than ever. I nodded as I stood up and took the necklace from her. She lifted her hair from neck and I slipped the necklace around her neck and fastened it. She let her hair fall as she stood up beside me. She was even more beautiful. The heart hung a little below her collarbone and it twinkled in the dim light.

“My I have this last dance?” I asked.

“Oh… it’s the last one?” Ginny asked sadly.

“For now, but there is more to come,” I said smiling. She looked me in the eye and smiled. She took my hand and we danced. It was beautiful. When the song was over, I gently pulled her into a kiss.

“We need to go,” I whispered as I kissed her again. She nodded so I took her hand and led her out the door. The hallways were starting to get dark. I looked out of a window on the way downstairs, the sun was close to setting but I still had time. After walking out onto the lawn, we walked towards the lake. The sun was turning a dark orange color making the leaves falling from the trees even more beautiful.

“Wow! I’ve never been outside at this time of day,” Ginny exclaimed. She proved me right, this will be perfect, just like her. I squeezed her hand as we walked around the lake, her hair blowing in the gentle breeze. We stopped right on target, the wind still blowing her hair. She turned, her back to the wind, causing her skirt to gently hit my legs. I laughed because it tickled, even though I was wearing kaki pants. She giggled and swept her hair from her face. I slipped my arms around her waist, pulling her closer. She giggled even more as she wrapped her arms around my neck. She ran her fingers over my neck, making me laugh.

“You know how to make me laugh,” I whispered as I gently kissed her lips. She giggled as I ran my hands up her spine.

“You’re the one who knows how to make me laugh,” Ginny giggled. She was beautiful when she laughed, her smile making her even more radiant. No wonder guys are always following her… I’m so lucky to have her in my life. I glanced towards the sun; it was close to setting. I pulled my wand from my pocket with one hand, still holding Ginny with my other. I mumbled ‘accio firebolt’ and stuck my wand back into my pocket. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw my firebolt flying towards me. It stopped right beside me.

“Would you like to go for a ride?” I asked as I waved my arm in the firebolt’s direction.

“Sounds like fun!” Ginny exclaimed as we got onto the broom. I took off, slower than normal because I didn’t want Ginny to fall. Her arms were wrapped around my waist as we flew higher and higher.

“Go faster!” cried Ginny from behind me. I leaned forward and kicked it into high gear. Ginny screamed as I went into a dive. We were inches from the ground when I finally pulled up and soared high into the air again. The sun was about to move over the mountain.

“We have to land now,” I said as gently flew to the ground. I let her get off before I did. I left my broom there as I led her to the top of the mountain. The leaves crunched beneath our feet and the breeze moved through our hair. It was magic. We reached the top of the mountain just in time. The sun turned a deep red, and slowly sank out of view. The sky turned purple, then blue.

“That was so beautiful!” exclaimed Ginny as she squeezed my hand. Her hair was a little windblown from the trip here, but she was still beautiful. Her eyes sparkled even though there was no light. I once again pulled her close to me, putting my arms around her waist, and hers around my neck.

“Ginny,” I began, “You’re perfect for me, and that will never change.”

She just blushed, and pulled my face close to hers. “You’re perfect,” she whispered before closing the gap between my lips and hers.
