Why Me?

You wouldn’t know the dangers,
Even if they smacked you hard in the face.
The pure, fruitless battles,
Passing on and on in a manner, so haste.

Dead bodies piling up here and there,
Screaming terror as his followers appear.
The endless pain ceasing to tone down,
Just one name, could strike so much fear.

My name used to be a beacon,
A beacon of eternal light.
Now I’ve failed so many times,
Now it just doesn’t seem right.

Five of my closest have fallen,
Fallen like helpless underlings to the dark arts.
Failing in a way, so dearly,
Just as my life starts.

Hell forgotten up until now,
My fated decision is yet to be made.
All I know is I barely have a choice,
And I have a vague idea of where it’s swayed.

My entire life had been made up for me,
From the second I received my scar.
That cold-blooded murderer,
I hope, when I defeat him, he falls far.

All of those people relying on me,
They could never really see.
I’m only a helpless school boy,
That constantly thinks “Why me?”
