Phases by Lissa Reynolds
Summary: Tonks compares her situation to the phases of the moon. Just a little poem I wrote in my overly-air-conditioned room at band camp. Hope you like it. I do.

1. Phases by Lissa Reynolds

Phases by Lissa Reynolds
crescent moon
how can you be so bright
when there is no light for me?
you illuminate the path
that my empty heart
does not wish to take.

waxing moon
with you my despair grows
until I feel pain in this wretched heart
but pain means nothing
for tears have numbed my face
but not my heart -- there each of your words is a dagger.

gibbous moon
round and nearly full
you hold promises of gladness
I cannot believe you
there can be no light at the end of this tunnel
the tunnel to hell.

full moon
long have you been glorified
and long his downfall
in my dreams we walk in the moonlight
but in dreams only
dreams of being loved.

gibbous moon
you grow smaller
shrinking and growing in a never-ending cycle
a cycle of life, death and rebirth
but love of him has halted the wheel
leaving me trapped here in the bowels of death and loss.

waxing moon
soon you shall vanish
if only I could vanish as easily
to hide my face
and shield my broken heart
from the happy ones, so far removed from my pain.

crescent moon
bravely shining on
in face of death
for you know you shall rise again
death would be only the beginning for us
the us that could never be.

new moon
dark as the sky
with a veil of stars
a veil that might be mine
a raiment of glittering teardrops
if he would only admit that he loves me.
