A Christmas Affirmation. by Magical Maeve
A Christmas Affirmation.

And late tonight the bells ring out
Wild and sure across the white.
With hearty peals they do flout
Their message pure and bright.

For as the wizarding world cowers
Beneath a threat so hard and cold,
A courageous, lovelorn boy towers
Above his station, brave and bold.

A challenge set, the pieces poised
He denies himself his earthly joys.
Prepares instead a plan of action
That will brook no unruly faction.

For Ginny waits, unseen, unheard,
A girl alone and unprepared,
As Harry walks towards his fate,
Closes once again that gate.

A gate through which love had tumbled,
Breaching barriers of the heart.
And Harry, in his sacrifice humbled,
Has given love a faltering start.

As Christmas falls gently about their heads
And they are bowed beneath its will,
As each of them waits with their own dreads,
There’s a louder voice, insistent, shrill.

For love is king of kings, it says
And will outlive the darkest night.
And when this is done there’ll be days
When love will soar beyond the highest kite.

But for now, the snow it falls,
And oxen kneel in their stalls.
And wise men wander far and wide
To bring their wisdom, once denied.

And Harry’s heart, its hopes and fears,
Will bend and break in the ensuing years.
But she is there, steadfast and true
A warm December hearth to return home to.
