Love Me For Today by lupinslover12
Summary: The future is unclear for Ron and Hermione. They are very much in love, but who knows fate? They could be dead by tomorrow. Out of the depth and darkness of death and war, Hermione laments her uncertainty for the future, and for their lives. It incorporates the technique of internal rhyme. If you like Sondheim-style lyric poetry, this poem is for you!

Disclaimer: I own nothing. Nothing. All I own is this measly lament. Got that? Nothing. Jo owns all. And I dedicate this poem to Stephen Sondheim, king of internal rhyme.

Who could know where our paths go?
Who could see if we’re meant to be?
Who can say if our love’s here to stay?
Well, all I can say, is for now, that’s today,
Whatever tomorrow may be,
Right now I have you, and you have me.

I’ve been told the future is a winding road.
Take my hand and we’ll proudly stand.
As a symbol of what can be lost,
We’ll stand in the land where our paths first crossed.
And if I wind in a divergent way,
I’ll know you and I stood here today.

There’s no greater day than the day that’s today
To hold my hand and say, “Let’s share a way.”
Do you know that there’s tomorrow?
Are you sure there is a future?
But as long as we share a way, today,
They’ll always be a time, you see,
When I had you, and you had me.
