This was originally part of a larger fic, about ten chapters, that is soon to be posted. The poem is actually a song in the fic, but worked for the challenge, so...

“Take these words that I give you
hold them close unto your heart
take these words that are mine to give
to whisper to you when we are apart.
Take these words that I give you
words that are special to you alone
this magic that is yours to keep
long after the phoenix has flown.
Take these words in this trying time
when fear seems to surround you
know that Light triumphs over Dark
and I trust that you’ll pull through.
Take these words that I give you
take them when you go away
never forget the love behind them
though I’ve passed my dying day.
These words I gave you time long past
I spoke before the Battle was won
make sure they stay with you till it’s over
and all your tasks are done.
These words I gave you with love
are ones that came from the depths of me
They are the truth that are my soul
and this truth shall set you free:
Words besides for these are naught
in the scheme of the life you live and lead
know this if you know anything,
words from a loved one are all you need.
