Say the Right Thing


Okay. Here goes. Ahem. Let’s see.
“How are you Hermione?”
No, that’s boring. Too polite.
“Hermione! You’re looking quite
“Remarkable. No, marvelous””
Would gorgeous be a bit too much?
Let’s start over. Try again.
“Hermione, my dearest friend!
“Oh, how I’ve missed your sugared smile,
“Your darling, school-girlish style,
“Your hair like coffee-caramel…”
No, that’s awful. Bloody hell!
I can’t do this! I can’t”no.
I can do this, take it slow.
Deep breaths, Ron, you’re doing fine
All right. Let’s try that one more time.
“Hermione, you’re looking great!
“Looks like you’ve lost a lot of weight…
“I mean”!” Oh shit! I can’t say that!
She’ll think I thought that she looked fat!
I’m dead meat. What will I say?
To show her that I feel this way?
To let her know she’s more to me
Than just a friend could ever be…
Should I hug her when she comes?
Sure, people hug who’re just chums
But she’s more. How do I show
I love her? How to let her know?
