How is it
That you're completely surrounded?
Even when
You're completely alone?
And you are
Always watched and checked on?
By people
Who have no idea what they're doing?
Or even
Who their 'charge' is?
Those people
Who coddle and fret?
And make you
Wish for a camouflaged shell?
Just like the
Poor hermit crab who got stepped on?
Left to die
An innocent death?
These are the
People that you cuddle and hug?
With a smile
And a grimace?
Flipping them off
Behind their ignorant backs?
How is it
That they kiss you goodnight?
And yet they
Don't notice your gilded cage?
