I never believed in love at first sight
Till I saw you.
Then I believed it with all of my might.
Then I knew.
So distant, yet so close you stayed
Out of reach
Every single night I prayed
You would see.
But your eyes intimidated
Vibrant green
So sure, so strong, burned and hated
What they’d seen.
They scared me, your eyes, so I hid mine
Timid and shy
Dreaming of kisses and fingers entwined
And your eyes.
Desperate and lonely, I turned to a friend
Help in demand
After laughing she agreed to lend
A helping hand
She told me to love myself instead
Be myself
Open my eyes, get you out of my head
It really helped
I said I’d give up, like you were a drug
Never let go
When she asked if I loved you still, I would shrug
I did, though.
Then. That moment. That hour of bliss.
You…me.
That beautiful, head-reeling, life-giving kiss.
Can’t breathe.
I let myself flow into you like the stream
To the sea
Golden and liquid, a butterfly’s dream
You…me.
