As he spoke his words reluctantly,
From the depths of his mind.
His heart bled solemn tears,
Each glistening drop screaming,
“…I still love you.”
He gazed deep,
into her comforting eyes,
He would be forever leaving behind.
However his reluctant mind,
Keeps a small peace.
She’s safe now,
Almost.
Now her words,
ring in his ears,
“I never gave up on you.”
Never gave up on him.
As he never would her.
One thing he forced,
Into her mind,
To remember,
To never forget,
“…I still love you.”

She felt it,
shatter into a million pieces.
“I still love you,”
She thought furiously.
“He’s doing this for you,”
She tried to reason.
He was always,
Her knight in shining armor.
After years of waiting,
Of reaching for her star,
in the midnight sky.
She would have to,
Let her desperate hand fall.
She stared deep into,
His startlingly green eyes,
Determined to let him know,
Never let him forget,
“…I still love you.”
