Just Another Broken Promise

A broken promise is all it took,
Now I’m fading into the darkness.
You told me you would always return,
But only empty dreams; blurry shadows fill this empty heart.

A single tear I cry for you,
Plenty more soon follow.
You promised me, you made a vow,
I guess you never cared.
A broken promise lingers here,
Hoping, praying for tomorrow.
‘Tomorrow will be the day’ I tell myself in a whisper,
The day you come back to me, the day my life returns.

What happened to my fairytale, the happily ever after?
I prayed for you to come back home.
Oh father, I have lost all faith,
My prince shall not return.
I’ll just stay here with the memories,
I’m just another broken promise.

A broken promise is all it took,
Now I’m fading into the darkness.
You told me you would always return,
But only pain fills this broken heart of mine.
I’m just another broken promise.
