Black hair flies.
Two things clash.
Her hands move fast,
over his grimacing face.
Cord wiggles like a snake,
as hands clutching at the stools base.
Floor littered with black hair.
She proudly smiles,
at an awful haircut beyond compare.

A hand reaches over hair.
Horror covers his face.
Embarrassment he couldn’t bare.
Gasps escape his lips.
School won’t be fun.
He’s already strange.
Feet turn to run.
Hands clasp his shoulders.
A thanks must be heard.
No words come,
but the chirping of a bird.

Into the cupboard he goes,
for another hungry night.
One of his all-time lows,
yet mornings comes.
His hair is back,
but her anger numbs.
