Author's Notes:
Again, this is my final assignment for Professor Jen's "Structure of Poetry" class. Enjoy!
I Bask
In the dark I sit,
waiting for it to come.
Oh! what is it, what is it?
Is it lovely, or is it rum?
I do not know, so do not ask,
in my ignorance I bask.
What is it I see,
when I close my eyes?
Is it a familiar sight,
or a wonderful surprise?
I do not know, so do not ask,
in my ignorance I bask.
How shall I find out,
how shall I learn?
of this thing I've no clue about,
of this feeling for I yearn.
I do not know, so do not ask,
in my ignorance, my sweet, blissful ignorance,
I bask.
One more
One more cup of this sweet juice,
this life-taking poison I have,
and I shall deliver this world from I evil, I choose.
Enough here to take a bath.
How I sorely wish that I could stop
this poison from taking me away.
Just one more cup, oh! one more cup!
and I shall be rid of this horrid bay!
But it is still, to my horror, there--
it hasn't gone down an inch,
I swear, I swear!
Oh, how did I get in such a pinch?
How much more? Just one more drop,
and then, only then, shall I, can I, stop.
