The Ballad of a Murderer by Phoenix5225
Summary: I typically do NOT write poetry, with good reason. This is the first poem I have ever submitted to MNFF, in response to the Ballad Challenge for Hufflepuff House (particpation only). Sometimes, they just come to me, and come to me quickly. This is one of those times.

The Ballad by Phoenix5225

His heart was pounding in his head
As they raced through the woods.
They had to stop and get some sleep
'fore they no longer could.

He pulled his mate into a cave
And told him, "Quickly, rest."
The young blond man collapsed at once,
Hands folded on his chest.

He wondered how to tell the boy
What he had done was planned.
It hurt him more than anything,
To have to kill that man.

The man had been just like the dad
That he had never known.
When he found that he had to kill,
His heart had turned to stone.

He tried all he could think of then,
To help him break that Vow.
He knew he had to be the one,
So that Draco never shall.

The boy was still too young and meek
To fulfill the plan.
A sturdy lad of seventeen;
Too young to be a man.

And so it came to pass that night,
He murdered and escaped.
A righteous man, though none could see
The true heart of Severus Snape.
