Author's Notes:
Okay, first off: I do not own anything from the Harry Potter books. I just have A LOT of free time and a love for writing. I've been wanting to write a poem about Godric's Hollow for a long time, and finally did it! Please R&R!
Looking back,
I wonder how
I ever was
So carefree.
Looking back,
I wonder how
My life went by
So quickly.
I could not see
How fragile life
Was until
It left me.
I could not see
How quickly life
Could escape
From deep within me.
One man’s fate
Held tight within
The words spoken
Of another.
This fate was
Mine alone,
With the spell
That I fell under.
I saw it happen,
Heard the signs;
I knew what
Was to come.
So I ran,
Withdrawing my wand,
Ignoring Death,
Who loomed above.
He waited ‘til
The curse was said
And green light
Filled the room.
Fighting still,
I felt the wind;
I knew I’d
Met my doom.
Death reached his hand
Around me heart,
Beckoning
Me forward.
He forced my leave
From life itself,
And my soul”
Away it soared.
My eyes’ final glance
Were those red orbs,
Empty of all pity.
My eyes’ final glance
Were only of
My killer, as he
Slithered forward.
My ears’ last sounds
Were cold, high laughter
And evil echoes
Off my walls.
My ears’ last sounds
Were my love’s screams
For our only son.
My last thoughts
Were panicked.
My last thoughts
Were brave.
My last thoughts
Were only
Of the lives
I’d hoped to save.
It was over
Before it began;
I was gone too soon.
Twenty-one years
Seemed but a day,
And finally
I’d reached the end.
My wife soon followed
Me to where
Our souls did
Finally land.
We looked onward,
Knowing now,
Our son is safe
In someone’s hands.
We watch him grow
Beyond the darkness
That separate
Us from him now.
We watch him grow
Beyond the veil
That separates
Life from death.
There is no time,
Nor is there pain
In this place
Unusual.
We wait in peace
Until a time
When here our
Friends are pulled.
Though we hope
It many years,
We know their
Time will come.
A shock fell
Over us when
A new arrival
Soon did come.
His dark features
Were so similar;
I quickly became
Curious.
His face, once handsome,
Eyes, stone grey;
I approached
And questioned,
“Sirius?”
