The serpent’s hiss is felt

It creeps and winds and hope will die.

It lives in the hearts of wizards blind.
Poison from fangs bared
Drips into the folly-filled dreams of mankind.

The cobra and the darkling man
Grow in strength together.
Her milk it feeds his body’s needs
And frees his soul from tether.

The child sublime. A boy with love to flout.
