Once when I was a girl, a long time ago,
In the home by a birch tree,
Lived a red-headed girl whom you may know,
My beautiful sister Lily.
We were best friends, inseparable to the end,
For I loved her, and she loved me.

What innocent children we once were,
In the home by a birch tree.
We thought we had a love that could never end,
I and my sister Lily.
It was a love that only two sisters could know,
Connecting her and me.

So it continued for many a year,
In the home by a birch tree.
One day a letter borne by an owl,
Changed my dear sister Lily.
She spoke of Hogwarts and magic,
And drifted away from me.
Her off to school, me all alone
In the home by a birch tree.

Those witches and wizards they ruined our love,
Destroying her and me.
We both wandered far, no longer living
In the home by a birch tree.
Until magic, in a jet of green light,
Murdered my sister Lily.

A letter told me her fate,
Opened my eyes, and made me see
That our love was destroyed by me.
As a reminder of lessons learned too late,
Lily’s child was delivered to me.
And in that moment I chose to raise the son,
Of my beautiful sister Lily.

Everyday when I look at her son I think thoughts,
Of my beautiful sister Lily.
Every night when I lie in my bed I dream dreams,
Of my beautiful sister Lily.
For I know that when she left a part of me died.
I would give the world to again be by her side,
And meet in the home by a birch tree,
So I can learn if she still loves me.
