I visit the veil in my dreams,

Listening
Straining—
Perhaps I will be able to distinguish your voice
Amongst the others’ whispers.
But do I want to hear your voice?
Will it calm or torment me?
If I indeed heard you
Your laugh would be so
Tantalizing, almost
Tangible, behind that piece of cloth
But I would not be able to grasp your hand
To ensure your existence.
Yet you are not gone;
As long as those whispers reside within,
I will entertain the thought
