Our story takes place
Not TOO long ago...
In the Gryffindor common room
By the warm fire, and they were watching it glow.

One was called Lily,
A beautiful name,
But she thought James was too caught up
In the Quidditch fame game

She couldn't help noticing his blatent good looks
Black black hair, and intelligent eyes
A friendly smile
Never a lie

His name was James,
Sometimes arrogant and always bold,
He swore to hate Snivellus
Until he was old.

He had always loved Lily
As much as he could...
He wanted to marry her and settle down,
Just as any man should.

"Lily," he said,
And with a sigh,
He almost said never mind, but told himself
Never to lie.

"I like you a lot," he said, "I really do."
He looked at her earnestly
And she smiled back
So he continued courageously

"So what do you think?"
He bravely said,
Watching the fire
That was now dead.

She finally spoke,
Much to James's delight,
She said,
"You're handsome, you know, you're quite a sight."

James tried his hardest to look modest,
But to no avail,
Lily merely laughed,
So he tried to bail.

"Never mind,"
He said. He was he rejected, he knew.
But Lily said "Wait!"
And James sat back down, not knowing what to do.

"I really do like you,"
Lily confessed quietly,
And James felt a surge of confidence
As he sat there silently.

"But if we go out,
Tone down your personality,
And pretend to be modest
About your Quidditch ability."

James nodded and promised,
And then he did something surprising
He leaned forward to kiss her,
And Lily said later that it was quite delighting.

Isn't it a romantic tale?
On a foggy night,
The couple sharing their first kiss..
Happiness...bliss...
