Black but Bright by luinrina
Summary: Two brothers – seemingly alike, yet very different. At least that’s what all thought. But was it really that way?

Author's Notes:
This poem was inspired by two sources: The first is a one-shot about Sirius and Regulus called “Like the Stars”, written by Diamond Quill, and the second inspiration was a poem about members of the Black Family, “A Torn Family’s Fate”, written by Lyra Lestrange. I really like both and can only recommend to read them if you liked my poem.

Disclaimer: I don't own any of the mentioned characters - I wish I'd do, but it's all J.K. Rowling's creation.
Black but Bright

The brightest light, shining in the nightern sky,
hope’s kindle, it does not lie.
Another light, a well-known name,
shines not alone, shares its fame.
Placed in men’s best friend and animals’ king;
a short and really sad story they sing.

They sport grey eyes and smooth dark hair;
have character and an irresistible flair.
Two brothers, in age quite close,
yet a difference between them arose,
which, as time goes by, loosened their bond,
although they’ve been of each other quite fond.

The first became a lion, still sleeping,
forms a lasting friendship, deepening
each day till being best mates:
Only one step in sealing their fates.

The second chose the cool green den,
the cut grew even deeper then.
Soon a group of supporters he joined,
it was for the Dark Lord, but never mind,
because good his parents thought it was “
although it sealed forever his brother’s loss.

Separate ways they walked from now,
one wonders why it happened. How.
The first in the Phoenix’s Order fought
to end these darkened times he sought,
whereas the second followed the Dark Lord’s lies,
until he saw the truth, his life ending with sacrifice.

The family extinguishes and it’s a tragedy looking back
at the lives of the brothers Sirius and Regulus Black.
In the end they have fought for the same,
but the loss of both souls really is shame.

End Notes:
So, what do you think? Please take the time to leave a review. Thanks.

Thanks to my sister; your patience in listening to my seemingly endless rambling is just amazing (sorry if the phone was blocked for hours at a time). Another ‘Thank you’ goes to Cerala for proofreading this poem and giving me an honest opinion “ you’ve been a really great help.
