how do the petals that surround your face
remain as red as the blood
that flows in your gentle veins?
Tell me, sweet,
with a gentle voice,
how you, in horrid times,
are able to fashion such ploy?
Tell me, dove,
when you smile alone,
is it love for a man
that makes your face glow?
Tell me, angel,
while I was far from you,
did we embrace in your dreams
or did you forget my being?
Tell me, doll,
what time is best
to take your outstretched hand,
to feel skin so fresh.
Tell me, darling,
how your trust is made,
and if I take your gentle hand,
will it fade or will it stay?
Tell me, dearest,
shall I embrace you tonight?
and will we together flee
‘neath the moonlit sky?
Tell me, love,
if I take you away,
will your love for me stay
or will it fade?
