How foolish it was to live such a lie:
my fate was not merry; I was born to die.
How foolish indeed, to be blinded by dreams
when the world’s fearful fate rested solely on me.

Thirty minutes went by in the blink of an eye,
and I was suddenly faced with the courage to die:
How funny it is to challenge it so,
when death lies behind you, wherever you go.

Two men before me have tried their own means
of evading Death; slipping through the seams:
They met terrible ends, but one lived on
and decided his fate, as the sun decides to dawn.

I will take his path now
And meet Death as my friend
This is my fate
This is my end
