1. The Unicorn by luinrina
Author's Notes:
This poem was inspired by several morning impressions I got in January, on my way to work.
Thank you to Striped_Candycane and clabbert2101 for their help and comments over on the beta boards' poetry forum.
Slowly, sun rises,
The Eastern horizon red,
A fiery ribbon.
Though, blue is the sky
In the West. Moon still shining,
A sickle of light.
Morning dawns, brightly,
The world awakens anew.
People start their day.
Watching from afar
A unicorn, silver, still,
Hidden in the wood.
Ears listen closely,
Sounds all around, in the air.
Wind along its way.
A rustle of leafs,
A shadow in the green copse –
The unicorn runs.
Sudden laughter sounds
And two people walk the path;
Morning exercise.
The unicorn gone,
Its silvery light extinct;
No memory left.
It’s ignorance that hinders us to see
What imagination has to offer.
