Just something I wrote up while trying to come up with a poem appropriate for a class assignment. Still haven't written the assignment, but at least I did something fun and useful with my time.

A Lady’s Regret

Who wants to speak with unimportant me,
Traitorous, ungrateful monster I be.
Even ‘truest love,’ as often he claim’d,
Did abhor me so, it was I to blame.
So now I, so uncontent with my life
Am curs’d to walk earth, no more cause of strife.
I return to the home wherein she lie,
Arms cross’d in state, as noble when alive.
Oh you powers! to take away my chance
To assure her of being out of trance.
So across the earth will I now walk,
No more to hear, and seldom will I talk.
This veil shall evermore cover my face,
Let it be mark of my deepest disgrace.
