Author's Notes:
My experience in the balcony after a really tough day.
Just thought it would be fitting to Harry Potter as well.
Escape

I step outside, feeling the cold balcony glass on my way out.

Biting cold hits my face blowing stray hair in my eyes.

My eyes tear at the sudden blast and

I blink away the unneeded tears. The night,

This night I need to see unhindered, the gathered clouds

Look dark forbidding and carry a morbid scent.

As I step out further my knees buckle

Involuntary arms wrap themselves around my shivering torso.

In the dark remnants of artificial street light casts swaying trees in shadows.

My body adjusts to the cold.

I let my arms fall to my side and slowly spread them open.

Welcoming the violent whistling wind.

I divert my focus away from my shivering form,

Concentrating on the licking biting wind my eyes close and other senses sharpen.

Tall dangerously swaying eucalyptuses.

Soft, gentle running of leftover rain water.

And earthly scent of damp soil.

Time is never existing and never ending.

I hear footfalls on wet leaves as friends leave dorm rooms.

If I dare to imagine hard enough, I am ten years old again.

I can hear the distant yawns of centaurs slipping into
slumber.

Looking down I make out the shape of a wrapped body in peaceful rest.

Wails of grief stricken women and pounding of mens fists' echo throughout.

The gently monsoon breeze picks up speed as a funeral pyre lights up.

Abruptly the harsh wind brings me back to my mind, my dorm.

I open my eyes and hyper-dilated pupils focus on the marble tomb.

Every last betraying thought rushes back bringing with it the guilt.

My escape is corrupted.
End Notes:
Harry Potter is not mine. But this night is from my experience.
