Hopelessness

He thinks that all has already been lost
No hope remains
She has been tossed
Around the room
Across again
Knife to her throat
Blood on her skin

He screams to her from down in the cellar
He did not choose
The fate befell her
A mirthless cry
Escapes his lips
Nowhere to escape
The dark abyss

A nail remains their only source of hope
To cut right through
The stubborn rope
Luna has cut them
He’s free to save her!
The question remains:
Will he be able?
