I Believed in Lily Evans by Equinox Chick
Summary: Christmas 1976 and Severus Snape sits in his room with only his thoughts to keep him company.

This song/poem is a parody of probably the best (and bitterest) Christmas song in the entire universe. The original, called I Believe in Father Christmas' was by Greg Lake of Emerson, Lake and Palmer. I strongly recommend that you listen to the original.

I am Equinox Chick from Hufflepuff, and this is my entry for the Extra Credit in the Great Hall Christmas Challenge.

Disclaimer: I am not JK Rowling or Greg Lake. (I never thought I'd ever type that sentence.) Please don't confuse us.

Chapter 1 by Equinox Chick
You said you’d stay here each Christmas.
You said we’d attend each feast.
But instead you kept on running,
And left me nothing, no tears at least.
I remember last Christmas morning,
Exchanging gifts under the tree,
I gave you my soul; you gave me a ... scarf,
My love you could never see.

You sold me a dream of Christmas.
You sold me a vision of life.
For years, you spun yourself around me,
Till I believed you would be my wife.
And I believed that you could love me,
And I looked at you with excited eyes;
Then a misplaced word, shattered my dreams,
And ripped right through my disguise.

I wish you were here this Christmas.
I wish we’d see in New Year.
But too much anger has passed between us,
You want me gone; that much is clear.
So I’m turning away from your life,
A snuffed out candle gives little light.
The Death Eater call chimes with my heart,
For Voldemort beckons tonight.
End Notes:
Reviews are always lovely.
