The time has come for farewell;
It’s come so soon, but why?
It seems so sudden, for me,
And I don’t want to say goodbye.
Yet the time has come,
At long, long last.
And I don’t know how or why
it has passed so fast,
Seconds had turned to minutes;
Then hours, and days
They went by without warning,
Leaving me in a haze
It’s barely even begun,
So why should it cease?
Yet I know the end is looming,
And I want to slow down, please
The end is nigh; it’s clear,
And when we’re forced apart,
I’m comforted by the knowledge
that it’ll remain in my heart,
While this may be farewell,
I hope that you and I
can keep it, and him, in our hearts,
So really, it isn’t goodbye.
Author's Notes: So what did you think? I wrote this in the middle of the night, literally, and the next day, I went to see DH Part 2. This poem was inspired both by saying goodbye to Harry Potter films (as well as finishing my first ever novel-length fic :D) but also the fact that I'll be in my final year of secondary school this September. I don't know how I'll be able to leave my school after four years there, and the thought of leaving is such a scary thought.
