Story Notes:
This poem was originally published on the archives over a year ago. It was accidentally deleted and I haven't been able to resubmit it until now. So if it seems familiar then that is probably why!

Thanks to Jess for looking this over in my poetry thread on the forums and for giving me very good advice about commas and all that silly punctuation stuff. This was inspired by the piece, Possession, composed by Nicholas Hooper for the Order of the Phoenix film score.

1. Possession. by the opaleye

Possession. by the opaleye
The sky bleeds tears of glass,
Cutting skin, tearing life,
He lies alone amidst the ruin
Of all that stands for righteousness;
Naught but purpose strengthens him
Whilst great wizards fight
For all that is lost - the Dark Lord lives
And greed will reign once more.

A solitary figure among the dead,
He must go on, he must not die
For life is but a fleeting pain,
Extinguished with one tongue-flick,
A necrotic cantata of joyous evil,
Within the bounds of immortality
And driven from despairing childhood,
Neither can live while the other survives.

End notes: Thanks for reading. A review to make up for those lost after The Accidental Deletion would be much appreciated :)
