A flash of inspiration goes to José González' cover of "Heartbeats" by The Knife.
Six years of time gone past,
Life we willed,
But we never act,
I willed to see,
The green wave’s crash,
On amber fields,
And the gates of ash.
You wanted to wait,
For the time to be right,
You walked away from me,
In the flash of green light,
And for a moment there,
I thought you were all but gone.
After more years passed,
Triumphant you stood,
Your emerald gaze on me,
Summoning your great lion’s courage,
Just to fall on one knee.
Eleven years ago,
To the day,
A summer’s day like this,
Our minds won’t soon let sway.
Now we watch her walk,
Walk down the same aisle,
The same I never imagined to walk.
Then I look back to you,
Hoping to feel the same feeling of time passed.
And I see your eyes of green, two.
