The Foulest Creature

Nothing...
Then a deep, unsettling
Chill drowning even the
Most joyful hearts
And white, foggy mists
Obscure warm rays of
Glorious sun,
Overshadowing excitement.
Among this cloudy despair
Falls darkening ash
And an evil banner
Hued of the most vile ebony
Builds upon an empty pocket
Of desperate, frigid air,
Seeping from every dank,
Blackest recess of forgotten corners.
The impossible now wasting away
As the soulless, echoing remnant
Of reeking abandon
Descends, entrancing in the
Decay of the rotting, inky folds of
A slimy villainous cloak,
Like thick smoke that evades
Capture.
Hunger now dwelling in its
Twisted, mad instincts-
Non-living,
But a most terrible
Nightmare
To destroy the
Merrily burning flames
Of hopes and dreams-
The darkest of all
Foul creatures.
