The worn hat dropping
Over his proud face,
The anxiety of
Listening to the unknown voice
Read his thoughts,
See his secrets,
Saying things he'd felt
That he never even
Considered in his conscious mind before.
"You don't belong in Slytherin,"
It spoke in his ear,
"It's what you want- to defy your family."
The boy was frightened
Of the consequences,
Yet exhilarated all the same,
He shook his head.
It whispered,
"You're just afraid, but I know where you belong."
The boy gripped the stool
Beneath him,
Shaking with anticipation,
Feeling the moment when
Time hung still all,
When he knew,
Without doubt,
That he did belong in
"GRYFFINDOR!"
