Halo

It is the deepening of his voice;
It is the strength he builds in his soul;
It is the steadiness with which he takes on the world.

It is the responsibility rushing out from every wave of his wand;
It is the happiness, the joy expressed in his fatherly eyes;
It is his loving, energetic embrace.

It is the tenderness with which he serves the crumbling world;
It is the extra time he keeps with his valued family;
It is protection he gives with each sure movement.

It is the peace that he emanates continually;
It is that sure saving grace he emits;
It is the sacrifice he lays down as his trembling words warn me of the danger.

It is the fight he puts up to stay the hand of death that much longer;
It is the halo I see now in that angelic, mature face, pressing forward, onward to the next great adventure.
