Thank you to Minna for pointing out all the little problems in this sonnet. You helped me make this so much better!

And a big thank you to Jason, who always has something to contribute to my work, be it praise or advice. :)

1. To the Man on the Street by Nagini Riddle

To the Man on the Street by Nagini Riddle
For the Man on the Street

In life, the paths of wanton love unseen
Consume the mind and through the heart have shown:
To want a touch, a kiss, a simple dream
Is all a squalor girl has ever known.

With silence, I am left to live alone,
To watch the night and day for freedom sweet-
And there it walks along the cobbled stone,
His presence but the notion of conceit.

Oh blessèd man, I beg you, stay the night,
And wrap me in your arms so lovingly;
Oh come, I ask, and further my delight-
My lust and fervor now requited be.

Then I, with stolen love in hand, proclaim
That I shall never see that past again.
End Notes:
While Merope might be terrified of what you think of her, I, on the other hand, love to receive thoughts and reviews. :)
